Rides, foodstalls, games with prizes!
To follow on from my quick post earlier, here is the Carnival with a bit more detail as a Steemit Post is supposed to have.
Table View, Cape Town, South Africa. This is what a school carnival looks like. There were hundreds, if not thousands of people at the school last night. The hall was filled with games, along one side of the hall were the rides and on the other side there were foodstalls. The carnival was too large for that even, utilizing some of the other school classrooms on the schoolgrounds.
Aime on the swings with wind in her hair.
Meren tumbling in the Vomit-tron. I am so glad we got nothing to eat before he went on this machine.
Prize Pong. Aime was quite good at it, an easy place for her to get prizes. Meren was not so lucky, usually throwing a bit too hard.
There were around 12 games in the hall. We did not even have time to play them all. There were long ques at some of them and having waited over a half hour to ride the Vomit-tron, Meren was not in the mood to wait a long time every time.
This is one of the games that I built for the school last year for the carnival. It has become a permanent addition to the game stalls now, for as long as it still stands it is an inexpensive thing to maintain. Just a board with slots that I painted and attached a frame to that makes it stands up. Higher points for the narrower slots!
This is another game that I had built. Spal a Rat. Simply the rat needs to be hit as it comes through the pipe. I just mounted a pipe on a board and the coloration is vinyl stickers pasted on before and after mounting the pipe.
Moster Munch was a collab. I built the board and the Art Teacher took it and painted it, stuck googly eyes on it and made it full of glitter! Hahaha!
All in all the Carnival carries on for about 4 hours. To be honest I would have preferred that they make it a day long event on a warm day on a Saturday, because it would make it possible for kids to do more things and not have to stand in massive ques. But it would be difficult to staff all the stalls for such a long period of time.
This carnival was easily the largest one so far in the four years that I have come to them. Last year I was more involved as a member of the PTA. This year of course I had to excuse myself because of the clash in time with the work on the ship. So this time I could enjoy the experience as a parent only.
We'll see what happens for 2019!
Looks awesome and it looks like you all had a lot of fun 😁.
