MADmusings #14: Hanging up the running shoes (for now) & donning the work boots!

in madmusings •  7 years ago

A quick update from me as I realised I haven't posted in a week and good to keep things tickin' over… plus check in with my fellow Steemies!

So today I picked up my number and accompanying bits & bobs for another 'non-race' I'm entered into on Sunday.

Anyone who saw my last running post will recall it didn't work out so well and I wasn't able to participate in the half-marathon that weekend.

I had a plan that I might be able to do it this Sunday instead but there was no real chance in the end. It's Madrid marathon day which also has a half and a 10k going on. I'm already entered into the 10k and asked if I could switch to the half but it was too late for any changes. Just as well as I won't be running at all… I've given up that ghost for now.

Another day, another goodie bag ;). Bit sparse this time… cutbacks have hit the local sports! Although, another slinky blue t-shirt and a bag to add to my collection.

I haven't run since the knee injury just over 2 weeks ago and won't be for a while. I actually played football/soccer (5-a-side 'futsal') last Sunday to see how it went. Fortunately, we had a couple of subs as 3 of us were injured! It was ok, but I couldn't really commit fully or play at any sort of intensity. Plus it was a risky endeavour to do so at all especially as you can take a bit of a tumble on the hard surface (which I did of course).

So… no football or run for me this weekend, which suits me fine. I'll try and get another 10k in before the summer and then get fit for September onwards. Then hopefully do some longer distances and other challenges later in the year or in to next. I still need to speak to a physio or similar and get some pro advice before anything else.

I'm busy with other projects so am focusing on 'regular' work for a while with everything else taking a back seat. Meanwhile, I'll be dropping in here and there but not with much consistency over the next few weeks. Or maybe I will, who knows ;).

Great to see the Steem price creeping up which can only be a good thing, if sustainable. I do see Steem and related blockchain technology be part of my business future (as well as personal) but that's a longer game. Watch this space!

Oh, and spring is in the air. The sun has got its hat on and the temps have roared in to the 20s… buckle your seatbelts, it's sure to be quite a heated few months in España!

View from one of my local parks yesterday… a definite shift in seasons

Steem on and ciao for now!
