Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara was an Indian catholic priest and social reformer. വി. കുര്യാക്കോസ് ചാവറ ഏലിയാസ് അച്ചന്റെ ജന്മസ്ഥലം കേരളത്തില് ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ കുട്ടനാടുള്ള കൈനകരിയിലാണ്. He is the first canonized Catholic male Saint of Indian origin and belongs to Syro Malabar Catholic Church.Born in 1805. He founded the first indigenous religious congregation for men now known as the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate ( C M I), co-operating with Fr.Thomas Polackal and Fr.Thomas Porukara. He died on 3- 1- 1871.
