Marijuana — A brief history

1923: Marijuana is dangerous! It must be illegal to keep it away from everyone!

2001: OK, marijuana is a MEDICINE, but it's still dangerous. You can get it if you have a prescription ONLY but you have to buy it from THE SAFE GOVERNMENT POT FARMS and the supply is terrible. Also, you have to smoke it.

2013: OK you can buy it from licensed private suppliers but it's still DEFINITELY ONLY MEDICINE. Otherwise dangerous!

2015: Uh, the courts told us we can't force children (or anyone) to smoke their medicine. So you don't have to smoke it. STILL SUPER DANGEROUS THO WATCH OUT.

2016: We're gonna legalise it! Eventually! Until then though we will totally arrest you this stuff is not safe.

2017: We've legalised it! But it's still not safe LOOK OUT! We'll tell you how it can be safe next year. Until then though still arresting you.

2018: OK pot is legal if you are 19 but you definitely can't buy it from a physical, private store. Too dangerous. Anyone opening a store is going to be charged.

2018: OK we'll license some stores but not too many!! This stuff is dangerous, y'all!

2019: If you licensed pot stores don't open by a specific date we are going to penalise you.

The part of the history of Marijuana that I find most interesting is the previous 12000 years, before sociopathic megalomaniacs decided to use it as a means of repressing their citizens. We know that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and every other farmer of note grew it on their farms. The scandalous lies that were used to cast people that - like Washington and Jefferson - used marijuana as degenerate drug addicts exemplifies the nature of government, oppression, and tyranny.

I know some will claim that those named worthies only grew it for rope, but they are wrong, and research into their libraries will reveal this fact. Washington, for example, wrote a letter to another grower asking if there was a way to reduce the amount of seeds produced. Now seeds are a valuable product of hemp. They're actually worth more by the pound than the hemp stalks themselves. Why would this most valuable part of his hemp crop be something Washington wanted to reduce?

Because when you smoke marijuana, the seeds taste unpleasant. There is literally no other reason.

Those that make claims that marijuana leads to degeneracy and harms people need to prove those claims, as the founders of our free nation disagreed with them, and their claims directly impugn those heroes to whom we owe our freedom today.

Thanks!
