Time and again online marketers are reminded to devote a big portion of your time creating a great subject line or title of your email messages. It is definitely worth it, because no matter how great is your message is, without people taking an interest and opening your email all goes to waste.
Today, I received an email that I really think is worth sharing. The message came from Dan Lok. Dan Lok himself is a great copywriter. His YouTube channel is one of the fastest rising channels on topics about business and making money online.
Don't try to sell on your subject lines. He says this is a rookie mistake that you should not try to make.

I. “How to ______.” - How to's headlines usually get opened because it is benefit-driven People would like to know how it can help them. People would like to get the benefits of being able to know a certain topic or them being able to do it on their own. Just by knowing the principle of things how it works can expand your knowledge of how things get done and you can even improve yourself managing just in case you want to delegate that particular task.
Examples are:

- How to live like the 1%
- How to NOT do a sales call.
II. “The biggest mistake _____ make.” This type of subject line is intriguing and people want to know what is it. It is also beneficial for them to know and avoid making the same mistake or even have a shade of such bad practices labeled on their work.

III. “The real secret to ______.” Everybody wants to know a secret. Everybody wants to have an unfair advantage over others especially their competition. Knowing a secret or two can make them winners.

- The real secret to getting lucrative clients.
- The real secret to meeting great people.
IV. "The fastest way to ____ .” With the advent of technology and convenience people wants instant results. This way people would open your email thinking they will know something to have the fastest results. Results that not only make them productive it can also be a way for them to gain momentum and get more results.

- The fastest way to get clearer skin…
- The fastest way to get your first 100 Instagram followers
V. “How I ______ .” This one is something personal. An achievement that you really made it your own so you can share your personal knowledge for them to improve their situation. It also connotes that of you did it and them doing the same can achieve the same good results.
Examples are:
- How I nearly lost the love of my life.
- How I was forced into business at the age of 19
- How I made my first 100 bucks online.
