Growing up, I had a fancy poster that I hung up on my wall.

It was a poster of a red Ferrari Enzo.

'Why?'

Because I wanted to to have it one day.

It was my dream car as an 11 year old.

By the time I was 16, I remember being enrolled in driving class.

My brother & I sat in with a room of 10 kids in the driving lecture.

The first half of driving class required lecture, then we would actually drive.

They were telling us how a car is designed, the importance of driving & all this other boring stuff.

I'm trying to drive homie! Wrap it up.

4 hours in, we finally were going to be assigned our driving instructor.

All the kids got in to groups of 2 and were paired up with their instructors.

All the instructors were in there 20s & full of life.

Everyone was getting paired up.

But where was our instructor?

After a few minutes, this old man with white hair, polo shorts & a fancy collar shirt comes up to me.

'Are you Anthony & Ayrosh' said the old man.

'Yea, this is Anthony & Ayrosh. Whatsup?' I responded.

'I'm your instructor. Listen, This is going to be a lot of hard work. I am not like these other laid back instructors. I've been a driving instructor for 40 years & I always came to play.

What the hell!

Everyone got these cool instructors and we just happened to get paired up with this angry ass dude.

Anyways, we got in the car & now it was time to take turns driving.

I was first up.

Since it was the first day, we were only going to hit the neighborhoods, no highways.

It was a slow, boring ride with Ebrahim who seemed to constantly be whining about something.

This dude was super uptight & not easy to get along with.

After 15 minutes in the driving session, I noticed something.

As I was cruising in the small neighborhood, there it was....

A nice Ferrari Enzo.

Was this THE Ferarri Enzo?

I wonder what the person did to get that?

What's it doing in this neighborhood?

Wonder how the owner likes it?

Had all these questions.

Then in the passenger seat, Ebrahim blurts out:

'Yea, I wonder how that guy crooked his way into getting that.'

He was staring at the Ferrari in disgust.

Huh? How do you know he crooked his way? I asked.

'That's what these rich people do. They are either privileged or something shady was involved. Seen it time & time again.'

This guy was some piece of work.

But it was a very interesting moment.

Ebrahim had no clue what this person did to get the Ferrari.

Yet his mind automatically defaulted to the worst case scenario.

Imagine how many other situations he approached with that limited mentality?

'Any idea why Ebrahim was like this?'

Yes, it's because of paradigms.

'English please...'

Paradigms are your collection of habits which create your mindset.

The stuff you do without thinking.

The paradigm = the lens you view the world from.

Ebrahim's subconscious mind held beliefs that rich people are either privileged or crooks.

It may have been because:

He was repeatedly told they are crooks.

He was scammed before.

He tried in business and failed.

The repetition of these thoughts soon became ingrained.

And a lack of awareness to reject the thoughts caused him to limit his paradigm.

Ebrahim taught me a lesson that day.

It's a matter of choosing your narrative.

In Ebrahim's world, thinking that wealth can be accumulated in ethical ways is asinine.

This is something you want to evaluate in your own world.

'Mine??'

Yea.

Your mind probably defaulted to:

'How many Ebrahim's do I know?'

While in reality you should ask yourself:

'Am I an Ebrahim?'

Question your default thinking & generalizations.

Behind generalizations, you can spot paradigms.

Are you someone who thinks:

All cops are bad.

All women are evil.

All rich people are scams.

No one wants to hear what I have to say.

Getting fit is impossible.

etc.

If you look close enough, guarantee you'll find a few.

Then assess whether the generalizations serve you.

Toxic or empowering?

If toxic, then question your paradigm until you engage your logical brain & talk some sense into yourself.

Next, distance yourself from the Ebrahim's of the world.

They got the crab in the bucket mentality.

A bunch of crabs in a bucket. One crab tries to rise & get out. As the crab rises, all the other ones try to pull it back.

These people are always going to talk you out of stuff.

Distance & continue to level up.

They will one day realize the error of their ways.

Your thinking influences your feelings.

Your feelings influence your emotions.

Your emotions influence your moves.

And your moves influence your present & future.

So check yourself the next time you get caught thinking like a loser.
