Pay your way out of jail with Bitcoin and McAfee's Bitfi under attack

These stories pop up now more and more, everywhere around us. Soon we will hit a point, where we cannot call all these use-cases for cryptocurrencies "curiosities" any more. But here's the story:

Martin Marisch is a cybercriminal. He is charged with hacking Electronic Arts (video games company) and obtaining tens of thousands of customers' info, which he quite possibly planned to re-sell or use in some other shady way. Oke oke oke, you say. What of it?

Now here's the thing - judges can apparently tailor the form of bail per defendant. People might not always have fiat money in their bank accounts - some hold real estate, some hold vehicles, some have cash. And now one more thing in that list - people hold cryptocurrencies.

If it's reasonable to offer the chance of bail, then why not ask it to be paid in Bitcoin, if that's all that the defendant has to his name? So a Federal Judge Jacqueline Corley has ordered Marisch to pay his bail in $750 000 worth of Bitcoin and sees nothing strange about it, and netiher do I, to be honest. But an interesting story nevertheless.

The only thing to consider here is the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies - so the cost of bail might look cheap or steep after a few weeks. But at least you can put your portfolio to good use :)

John McAfee, the legendary shiller, has had his endorsed Bitfy wallet hacked, again. Remember the $100K bounty? According to various sources, smart teenagers have exploited a backdoor in the Bitfi wallet, which is nothing more than an Android device and installed various videos and now are even playing Doom on the device.

According to McAfee, the funds were not touched, which was the goal of the challenge, but according to other info, the funds were transferred out and the hack completed. Go figure. But a lesson here nevertheless: Do.not.fuck.with.hackers.

"Federal Judge Jacqueline Corley has ordered Marisch to pay his bail in $750 000 worth of Bitcoin and sees nothing strange about it, and netiher do I, to be honest ".... Neither I am amused, rather I am looking it in a bigger prospect and would like to ask the regulators and goverment of my country to learn something out of it for the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in India.
