What interesting birds!
I've seen herons all my life, since they were abundant in my native Wisconsin. Often at the lakes, swamps, and rivers, you could find them looking to make a meal from fish, frogs, or snakes. While visiting the Gulf of Mexico recently, I came across several as well. The Gulf birds seemed to have learned well that people fishing or using cast nets are an easy source of fish many times, so when anglers show up, the birds move closer. It made for a few easier photos than they would have been. Enjoy!
