The Saint Croix River is a natural gem that starts in Wisconsin and then forms the border with Minnesota. The river is known for its fantastic bluffs and crystal clean water. Surrounding nature is preserved and protected by the two states and most of the river is parkland.
I take frequent kayak trips on the river, and the photo was taken from one of my favorite landing spots. When paddling several miles from the launch site, one can feel easily lost in the landscape. It's typically just you, the water, and land with a few bald eagle and deer sitings. I frequently stop on the sandy beaches and sit back to listen to the leaves rustle against the cool northern wind.
In the more populated areas on the river, you'll see a host of rock climbers exploring the bluffs and tent campers on the river shore. Taylor Falls, MN is a popular spot for tourists looking to explore the surroundings.
