How to sew the skirt of the dress

To make the skirt we will need a rectangle of 50 cm by 100 cm. The first step is always to overcast the edges so that they do not fray. With a sewing machine, simply sew a zigzag seam around the edge.

Then you have to join the rectangle at the ends (with the right side of the fabric towards the center) leaving a margin of about 1 cm on each side. If you do it by machine, you can sew it with a simple stitching. Then iron the seam to open it (that each seam margin is on its corresponding side).

In the lower margin, take a 2 cm hem with pins and mark it with the iron. Then, you can also sew it by machine with a stitching, or hand with an invisible stitching.

To finish the waist of the skirt it is necessary to know the gathers technique. If you do not know how to do it, you can take a look at a video to do it by machine, or this one to do it by hand. At the end of the puckering, the waist of the skirt has to measure the same as the crochet body we have knitted.

To join the two pieces, put both inside out and pin the skirt to the top. Depending on the model of sewing machine you have, and the thread you have used to make the body, maybe you can join it with a machine stitching. In my case it was too thick and I was afraid that some point the crochet would get stuck in the process, so I finished it with a hand stitching.
