Plototyping a plant bag with leftover denim / 植物を育てる袋を試作中

To reduce the amount of plastic containers I use in my garden, I made a prototype of a grow bag with leftover fabric while my daughter was taking nap.

A lot of grow bags are sold but most of them are made with chemical fiber, which may make the grow bag more stronger. Then I wonder it's really sustainable or not as chemical fiber produces micro plastics when it's worn away or washed. Still it may be better than plastic container though.

Then I made one with leftover organic denim. I'll buy a small leafy veggie plant at our weekly market tomorrow and fill it with soil. Then its running test starts :)

Some of you may think why I made a hole in the middle. Plant can simply pop up from the top. But when it works, I'll make a bit longer one and it's convenient to make holes in this way. It should be simple and made efficiently with less material and stitches.

今年は一気に鉢の数を増やしたのですが、プラスチックの鉢が多いのもなんだかなあ・・・と庭で使うプラスチックの量を減らせないか考え始めました。

Grow bagという布でできたプランターも売られているのですが、化学繊維だと結局引きずったり洗ったりでマイクロプラスチック出るので、何が何やら・・・。強度を出す上で必要なのだとは思うのですが、これではなんのためにプラスチックの鉢をやめるのかわからん w

大きいものはどうしていいかわかりませんが、葉物を吊るす小さいものくらいなら作れるかも？と子どものお昼寝の間に型紙もないままハギレで適当に縫ってみました。デニムなのである程度強度はあると思います。

うまくいったら写真ふたつめのようになる・・・・かな www 上からにょきっと葉物が出てもよいのですが、2連、3連の長いものを効率よく作るために変なところに穴をあけています。

明日マーケットで葉物の小さい苗を買って植えてみて、強度とプランター内の環境が葉物の生育によいか試してみます :)
