Rosenbauer, an Austrian-based firefighter manufacturer, has developed what they call "the world's first fully electric fire engine."
The so-called Concept Fire Truck (CFT) and will be tested in the fire departments of Amsterdam and Berlin, and the next test will be the United States.
According to the company, if the vehicle is battery operated 90% of the time and assuming an average annual mileage of a fire department of approximately 10,000 km, it would be several thousand euros cheaper than fuel.
An electric motor in this type of vehicles makes perfect sense: less components, less maintenance, travel short distances and above all, it does not emit polluting particles.
