When it comes to "game enhancing" peripherals, the Game Genie is always the first device I think of. I remember the first time I saw one used. I was amazed by the magic. Which is one of the things that made such devices interesting... they mostly didn't tell you how they worked or what they did, that they were working with the system's memory, you just put in the code and magic appeared.
