Always check multiple sources. Always. That's my main tip to everyone.

And don't trust snake oil salesmen just because they're not the main stream media!

Good point @the-ego-is-you I remember watching the Alex Jones show and at first I thought he seemed pretty extreme, then as the election approached I just lost all respect for him really. He gives us "conspiracy theorists" a bad name by acting completely erratic. I'm sure there's more out there that just want to take advantage of people, just like in every field.
Never stop being critical, never take people for their word, do you're own research to educate yourself.

Thank you!

Exactly. I think it's very important that we don't let some peoples fear of infighting, which is not really something I want to promote, lead us to pretend we don't even see when someone knowingly tries to fool us.

There are many different levels of fearmongering and lies, but as you said, the erratic behaviour (shouting in favour of some very nonlibertarian implementations of capital punishment for "traitors" even...) was what got me 100% turned off from Alex Jones a few years back. Today I'm totally sure he is a "closet" fascist and fully deserves to be called out as such. -And I don't use such words lightly.

Now I'm not sure of where you currently stand politically and that's not the point here (although funny fact, I used to be a communist =) ), but Stefan Molyneux is another clear example of someone who pretends to hold certain political ideals (anarcho-capitalist) .... and then he caters to a different audience and his views all of a sudden change in order to fit that audience. Most lately they are nationalists and since the election run up largely Trump supporters.

Dollar Vigilante on the other hand I do disagree with quite a bit, but him I could have a conversation with and I still listen to and appreciate his podcast Anarchast. I don't buy all of the conspiracy theories he promotes, yet so far I think he's been a very positive influence in the anarchist community. That's why I vote for his witness and would consider making him a proxy even.

On a another note or on the topic of doing good, I really like the content you've been putting out lately. ^^ It's been great to see you actually staying on Steemit even after your innitial "fame run" with travel posts. Your content was great back then as well and I'm very happy to see you not jump ship when the rewards came down.

Big thumbs up and thank you for making this platform steeeem! =)

Ahh yes, Stefan Molyneux... yes I agree with you there, I'm a fan of his older videos, he's changed so much- but to be honest I mostly enjoy watching his videos that address psychology and the relationship problems of anonymous callers ;)
Jeff Berwick is definitely someone with sharp views but I respect him for never waivering and for "practicing what he preaches."

Steemit has had a huge impact on my life, I can't just turn my back on it. But even more so, I think steem will rebound in a few months. I haven't given up up writing about my travels, I'm still learning how to balance it out- I rather miss writing about that actually :)

Yes just cause it's not mainstream does not mean it is better. human means imperfect.
