This is always my question in response to the statement the crypto currencies are used for drug running and illegal purposes -
So, up until about 8 years ago when Bitcoin arrived on the scene, how was all the drug running paid for? How was terrorism funded?
Perhaps we should be looking at shutting down those avenues of funding before worrying about a new one that might be misused for such purposes?

The number one drug money launderers in the world are large banks in The US. They have been fined multiple times for just such.
I feel the biggest fault in people's brains about drug trafficking is scale.
It is because people watch shows (starting with Miami Vice) where the drugs are a few suitcases.
The reality is tractor trailer loads.
C-130s flying in weekly with full loads.
