My grandmother's name was Guadalupe. She is one of the reasons why I can simply claim that I had a loving, enjoyable and very memorable childhood. She loves to sew, do embroidery and work with her hands.I basically learned what I am doing now from her. We have the same personality. Its quite a pity that she did not have the same opportunity like me. But, I am still grateful to her.She helped pave the way for me to get where I am now.
One of the first things that she taught me as a child is folding paper boats. Back then, we do not have origami paper or specialty papers for this. We used newspapers. We used whatever we could salvage. But I do not mine then. All I know is that, my grandmother is teaching me something and, I am happy to be taught by her.
Despite being dead for 7 years now, I still miss her very much. When I do, I make paper boats or I create something. I feel that when I do that, I honor her. I feel comforted. I honor her memory. I remember our happy days together.
I started with white rectangular paper.
Fold crosswise.
Fold.
Open.
Fold. Do not worry. The paper will fold because of the creases created.
Take the bottom portion and fold back halfway on both sides.
Open.
Rotate then fold.
Pull the outer part.
You can pull further to get this but, I prefer the previous one.
