I love brownies and cookies and really all desserts; they're so good when I'm enjoying them but they always make me feel like crap after. The consequences are minimal when it's dessert but how many choices do we make thinking about instant satisfaction only to suffer the repercussions later.

Yoga is about being present but that doesn't mean you ignore the consequences of your actions, it's the opposite. We as yogis live the intention for the action being in the now and still understanding the causality.

This is the practice of Jnana yoga which centers on a cognitive event which is recognized when experienced. It is knowledge inseparable from the total experience of reality. Too many problems of this world have come from people thinking of short term and ignoring the long term. When you act in the now ask how will it effect you later.
