The diary game: happiness

Similar to love, happiness is a state, which broadens and includes various and at times conflicting shades of definition. Happiness mostly emanates from a particular objective or a fulfilling purpose usually such as niche relationships, work activities or one’s achievements. Moments of happiness occur in a sporadic manner: a friend relates something funny, and you happen to be with them; the beauty of nature witnessed in the sunset;

Happiness across cultures has different dimensions; for some, it is most centered on easy living, for others it is among many objectives, ambition. It has been shown that practicing gratitude and mindfulness or showing kindness makes people happier. Doing what we enjoy, being outdoors and doing useful things also makes us happy.

Most importantly, a happy person should keep in mind that it is a relative term - it is not a status quo but a dynamic one. Accepting those ups and downs mostly is a prerequisite for an individual’s contentment as well as fulfillment. In this case, happiness is a process and not an event, constructed by the persons’ behaviors as well as relationships. Positive people are able to withstand change because they develop conditions and behaviours which promote positivity.
