But the reality, now that we have just started a new year, is that we once again have another great challenge ahead of us. A splendid horizon opens up in front of us, whose face, metaphorically speaking and like Joseph Campbell's hero with a thousand faces, we have to discover every day, removing, one by one, the petals of the daisies of our destiny.
In my case and following the timely instructions of an admired teacher, Hermann Hesse, I chose the difficult path a long time ago, knowing, like him, that, no matter how rough and dark the path may be, I will always find the lamp of a Hermit waiting. in the distance to take me to a safe haven. I have long known that life is like the lottery, composed of triumphs and failures, in which we are forced to participate. Then let's do. Let us participate with optimism, but, above all, with courage, knowing that, no matter how hard we try, we will never reach the horizon, but being aware, at all times, of how beautiful and rewarding it is to always try. Otra vuelta de eje o mejor, de tuerca, como diría el escritor victoriano, Henry James, titulando así, precisamente, una de sus más célebres novelas de fantasmas, en la que, posiblemente, la realidad supere a la ficción. Pero la realidad, ahora que recién acabamos de comenzar un nuevo año es que volvemos a tener otro grandioso reto por delante. Frente a nosotros se abre un horizonte espléndido, cuyo rostro, metafóricamente hablando y al igual que el héroe de las mil caras de Joseph Campbell, tenemos que ir descubriendo cada día, deshojando, uno a uno, los pétalos de las margaritas de nuestro destino.
En mi caso y siguiendo las oportunas indicaciones de un admirado maestro, Hermann Hesse, hace tiempo que opté por el camino difícil, sabedor, como él, que, por muy escabroso y oscuro que sea el camino, siempre encontraré el candil de un Ermitaño esperando en la distancia para llevarme a buen puerto. Hace tiempo que sé que la vida es como la lotería, compuesta de triunfos y fracasos, en la que estamos obligados a participar. Hagámoslo, entonces. Participemos con optimismo, pero, sobre todo, con valentía, sabiendo, que, por mucho que lo intentemos, jamás alcanzaremos el horizonte, pero siendo conscientes, en todo momento, de lo hermoso y gratificante que resulta siempre intentarlo. ¡Feliz y Próspero Año Nuevo 2024!.
