Lark A Beautiful Song Bird

in photography •  5 years ago

Larks are beautiful small song birds and are very common in all over Pakistan. They are mostly found in foothill grassy field forging around. Their food is insects and seeds. Larks are the only birds who can sing during flight while other birds can only sing during perch. More than 91 species of larks are found and only few species are in Pakistan.

Crested Lark
💥

The crested lark is one of the species of lark distinguished by the crest on his head. This crest rises up during courtship and singing. It is very common bird in Pakistan and I found it in foothill area of Margalla. I saw this bird in urban area of D-12, Islamabad and Lake view area. It is not a shy bird, I took its picture from a very close distance.

The Indian bush lark a very beautiful bird and also not shy of camera. Bush lark sings from bush tops but does not usually perch on trees or wires. The Indian bush lark is most commonly found in arid areas. I saw this bird in D12, Islamabad which is a Margalla foothill area. It was forging around but was very well camouflaged in environment. I took this picture from very close distance and loved to see this bird closely.

Sand lark
💥

The sand lark is a small passerine bird in the lark family. The species is found across the sandy banks of the Indus. It is found mainly on sandy islands along rivers and nearby fields. I saw this bird in Swabi Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, when I covered the Indus water cross jeep rally. They were forging around on sand and were not afraid of us. They are very noisy. Then again I captured this beauty in Indus River near D.I.Khan again in sandy area of Indus. Sand Lark loves to live near water, feeding on insects as well as seeds.

Greater short-toed lark
💥

The greater short-toed lark is a small passerine bird. I saw this bird once in Dera Ismail Khan almost 360 Km away from Islamabad. As D.I. Khan is situated on the west bank of the Indus River therefore its a very good place for birds. It is also a migratory rout of birds to enter into Pakistan so some birds also rest here. During migration they form large flocks. Flocks will often fly together to water in the mornings and in evening. I captured this picture in evening while coming back from Indus river.
