Woods in the City

This is a copse of sorts on my regular driving route. The trees are standing tall with their naked branches (because it’s still winter here). I often feel as though I live on the set of a horror movie, or that I reside deep in the woods and am running out of bread crumbs to mark my trail. It seems strange to live in a city with patches of free-standing wooded areas. I'm sure there is a municipal approved explanation for it. However, driving past it early in the morning, or late at night, when there is no sun, a little fog, maybe some rain... it's kind of creepy. It's usually empty and eerily quiet. I suppose it can be considered peaceful, but it evokes in me an emotional response that tells me to move faster, get away, there’s bears or other predators there! But that’s silly...right?

I like the scenery like that, beautiful

Thank you.

It can really be intimidating that forest if there is darkness and you are walking alone there. Not only can an animal come out, you can also hide a psychopath there, something extreme but more vigilant than sorry. Greetings.

Yeah, it can be pretty spooky. Hello there, and thanks for reading.

There are a lot of wooded areas in my city, but many of those areas are also swampy so for many mornings there is a lot of fog on the road. I usually really like having so much of the natural world around, but it can be spooky at times. A few times I've almost run over wild turkeys running through the cover of fog!

My husband once saw a deer in these very trees. Fun fact: these trees are directly across the street from an elementary school, and off a major road. :)
