Endings

Like Gatsby
I tried to grasp
And hold back summer,

But was powerless
To stop
Or even hinder

Time changes,

And now
One robin lingers.

I stop throwing crusts
And hope
She’ll follow friends

Where skies
Are warm and blue…

It’s sad,
But she needs
To leave,

And so, my love, do you.
