I thought we were golden
but you're floating away
to the prettier things that
have lured you to play

I thought I was flying
but I've sank down to Hell
I've been swallowed up whole
now I sit here and wail

Now no one can hear me
as I stretch out and cry
no one comes near me
and these monsters tonight

My hair smells like ashes
and my heart begs for rain
I remember your kindness
as your thunder brings pain

If my face had been pretty
and my songs had been new
Would this outcome be different
Would she still be with you?

I guess I won't know now
that I've drowned in this haze
missing soft-spoken wishes
that you're giving away
