the void

it seems
bottomless and infinite
no matter how i turn
as i fall into this deep
my screams are stuck on silent
mouth curved into a smile
with edges so sharp they bleed
nothing escapes
rather if indeed it did
it would have nowhere to go
my happiness feeds on itself
i’ve met shadows
with more personality
than i can muster up
in this moment i am
so listless and drained
not a single spark remains
i keep breathing
trusting i will know
when it’s time to cease
i keep trying
hoping to be much better
than i even know how
hollow space
is encroaching
eating everything in its path
the darkness is rising up to greet me
and i’m stretching out my hand
