Niantic has deployed an in-game notification that the next Community Day Event for Pokemon Go will be on Saturday, September 22nd at the usual times based on your time zone (2pm – 5pm EST in the US). This time, the trend continues as it will feature another starter Pokemon, Chikorita. Chikorita is Gen2’s grass type starting Pokemon. As usual, shiny Chikoritas and their evolved forms will be present for the event.
The bonus that will be present to catch these Pokemon that day will be triple catch XP which is great for those looking to continue their level 40 grind! In addition, the evolved form Meganium will feature a special move only available if evolved that day. While not announced, it is expected that lures will last the full duration of the event went placed.
Given that Chikorita has 3 evolutions, including itself, I will look to get at least 3 to have one of each. I will look to also having one of my saved up ones, evolved with the special move. While the announcement has disappointed some given the lack of excitement for Chikorita, I welcome it as it has been a long summer full of events and a breather is not bad at this point.
