Growing through... POKER?!?

Next big tournaments are Thursday at 11:00 AM and Friday at 6:00 AM PST!

Last big tournament we played - we, being the @spl community (join if you haven’t already, it’s so much fun and getting bigger every day. Also check @pokertoday for info) was on Monday at 4:00 in the morning.

IN THE MORNING, y’all.

What kind of SADIST starts a tournament at that undgodly hour?? My favorite sadist and yours, @tuck-fheman. I think he read my earlier post about how awful I find the mornings and is using it AGAINST me.

In order to prepare - remember, please that I have four children. A job. A husband. Friends (kinda). But I LOVE this league and my teammates so you better believe that I PREPARED.

First, I made cold press coffee. This meant I had to set it all up in the morning of the day before to get juuust the right acidity. (sooo snobby about our coffee, you guys)

Set my alarm for 3:00 (THRREEEEEEEE OMMGGGG) AM.

Next, I stayed up...kinda. I took a nap on the couch watching old GoT episodes. So I was kinda ok, awake-wise.

I proceeded to drink my coffee too fast.

Caught CARDS in the first few minutes and was up a little.

Got NOTHING else in the rest of the tournament. Think 8 - 3 off suit. Hot. Garbage.

Still stole some blinds and shoved around a little but the blinds nailed me.

I was out in 7th, and vibrating with too much caffeine in my system, I watched my teammates play.

And what happened next changed my LIFE.

My main man @nicnas was on the table, whining about how tiirrreed he was and how much woooorrrrk he was going to have to do later that day, all the while playing like a fucking professional; ice water in his veins. Checking, folding, shoving like the fucking BOSS he is.

While our guy @chiefmappster was on some kind of existential poker TEAR.

Chief’s in there with the power of the UNIVERSE on his side. He’s being blessed by all the the gods and is lecturing all of us about how the Universe IS god and god IS good and how fucking BLESSED he is in his life and he’s catching absolutely ALL OF THE CARDS.

Next thing I know they’re both going on and on about how the good you get is the good you give and how amazing this whole life thing is and how good things are coming to us and i’m sitting in my room, miles away and in the dark and I’m WEEPING and laughing like a goddamned convert, albeit silently so I don’t wake my whole damn family up.

It was INSANE.

They came in 1 - 2.

Y’all. The Universe IS god and god IS good. I am a true believer.
