Combating excessive taxation.

It seems as though there is a tax for everything these days. Sales tax, tobacco tax, there is even a tax for when you die. I tried to explain to my children that even though we live in "the land of the free", we aren't really.

A population can't really be free when even though you just spent the last 30 years of your life paying of this mortgage, you still have to pay the government their property tax. Once a year you have to pay a rent for the privilege of living in the house that you own.

The same goes for your vehicles. However many years to pay off the car loan, you finally own it, but not really. Even though you just spent all this time paying off this debt, you still have to pay your personal property tax.

All of this time, energy, and money spent paying off this loan and / or debt, and you still gotta pay on it. If you don't? Well, then that property you just spent years paying off now gets taken away. In order to get it back? Well, you have to pay your tax, a fine for being late, impound fee, tow fee, sales tax on all the tow truck stuff.

Then I got into all the different licences you have to get. A licence is when the government takes away your right to do something and sells it back to you. Driving. Fishing. Hunting. Just to name a couple. You aren't allowed to go out and hunt or fish to put food in your families bellies without the government getting into your pocket. You can't even go to the store to get food to put in your families bellies without the government getting into your pocket.

So, how do we combat this? I don't know of a solid way to do so. I do ha e an idea though. Become homeless. Have I gone mad? Possibly, but here me out. If you didn't buy a house, that a possible several thousand dollars a year the government isn't getting. Bicycle instead of a car? Yardsale instead of walmart?

Starting to see a pattern here? This is off grid to me. Buying property in Alaska, no connected utilities, miles from town? Still connected to the grid. Still have to pay taxes and the government still has you right where they want you, by the pocket.

Now, imagine if 100 million people did this? That is a huge chunk of change that the government is not getting every year. That's something someone is going to notice. I'd imagine both side of the issue would take notice to that.

I see it as kinda like Nancy at the end of the movie Nightmare on Elm Street. "I'm taking back every bit of energy I gave you. I'm not scared of you anymore." She turned her back and he was gone.

Our taxes are the energy we give to the government. Our Freddy. If a large enough group of us were to turn our backs and go homeless I'd be willing to bet they would see we have a problem with the way things are going.

Kind of like the idea of "voting with our wallets." If we decided to stop buying a good or service from a specific company, they would reexamine their business practices. If we decided that the taxes weren't really worth it anymore and dropped out of society, would the go ferment reexamine they way they operate?

I think it's worth a shot. Of course, this would just be one of several tools we could use to reclaim our freedoms.

Very much looking forward to talking to others about this. Don't worry, I got more where this came from.

Later man.

This is a very big reason I choose to be homeless. Turns out it's a really peaceful and fulfilling lifestyle as well!

I have a ton of questions I'd like to ask one day.
