Grounding and Anxiety

in psychology •  8 years ago

One thing I have learned about my anxiety is that grounding helps. Here is a basic definition I copied from online.

Earthing (or grounding) refers to the discovery of benefits—including better sleep and reduced pain—from walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems that transfer the Earth's electrons from the ground into the body.

This is IF I can manage to realize (while in the throws of anxiety) that I need to ground myself. I started doing this naturally when my husband (who used to meditate a lot) was like, why are you putting your feet on the ground? I told him I just felt better doing it and didn't really know why. He laughed and said that I was grounding myself without actually knowing what I was doing. It makes sense now. This is a HUGE thing for me. I get the most grounding benefits rom my garden or the beach sand. It seems to be the "frequency" I like, if that makes any sense at all.
