This is a short summary and list of links to my Understanding Cognition series. I started this particular thread because it is important to understand what biases are driving us to act the way we do.

In some circumstances it is just enough to know about them as a matter of interest. In others we need to be aware of them in order to understand and change our behaviour accordingly.

I hope to write many more articles on this subject, so this will serve as the first table of contents for the series.

Understanding Cognition Link List

Understanding Cognition: Life Through A Lens Of Confirmation Bias
This is the first article in the series and explores the nature of confirmation bias and how it affects us when we research issues we have already made up our minds about.

Understanding Cognition: The Moon Hoax Bias
Following on from the Confirmation Bias article, this post takes a look at how the moon hoax believers have been affected by confirmation bias. Causing them to overlook mountains of evidence in support of all of NASA's lunar missions.

Understanding Cognition: The Dissonance Of Flat Earth
In this article we explore a powerful cognitive bias called cognitive dissonance and how that relates to people who believe that the earth is not a globe. We see how it is easier to drop a new idea as opposed to a long-held belief, no matter how ridiculous that belief may be.

Understanding Cognition: FOMO - Manipulation By Fear Of Missing Out
In this article I show you how you are being manipulated by advertisers using among other things, the fear of missing out, or FOMO as it is more popularly known.

Understanding Cognition: Availability Heuristics - A Fallacy Of Memory
Next we look at the availability heuristic, a cognitive bias that places importance on the things your mind can most easily remember. I show you how politicians in particular take advantage of the availability heuristic in order to get you to vote a certain way.

Understanding Cognition: Is Q Anon Real? Examining Evidence Through The Lens Of Cognitive Bias
Next we take a look at the popular ever-growing movement behind the QAnon posts. We examine how various types of cognitive bias cause people to believe the QAnon posts are more than they actually are.

Understanding Cognition: Which Bias Is Affecting Your Crypto Trading? - The Curious Case Of Clustering Illusion
The latest article in the series kicks of a sub series called Which Bias Is Affecting Your Crypto Trading. It explores how subconscious signals from our brains can spot patterns and use that to create order, where in fact there is none.

I HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING THIS SERIES, OR IF YOU'RE NEW TO IT THAT YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW WHILST BEING ENTERTAINED. IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU WANT ME TO COVER REGARDING COGNITIVE BIAS, THEN AS EVER, LET ME KNOW BELOW!
