I do not remember what flower the above photo is. I took it last year. The macro-view is wonderful, but because of the time since taking it I do not recall. I just enjoy its beauty.

No recuerdo qué flor es la de la foto de arriba. La tomé el año pasado. La vista macro es maravillosa, pero debido al tiempo transcurrido desde que la tomé, no la recuerdo. Sólo disfruto de su belleza.

Welcome all to 2021. I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! The year 2020 has been rough for many people in the world. Some vaccines are now coming out. I am not sure how they will distribute it throughout the world. As many of my long time followers know I care for two disabled adults in my home. It has almost three years since my wife's health put her in a hospital. I ended my career as a Rehabilitation Counselor and took over the in-home care business so I could also care for my wife. Her health has been up and down for these past years (and many years before), but currently she is doing better. I have been able to notice things going wrong and take steps with her doctor to rectify the situation. It is looking like our household should be able to get a vaccine very soon. I have to return a call on Monday and find out when.

Bienvenidos todos al 2021. ¡Me gustaría desearles a todos un Feliz Año Nuevo! El año 2020 ha sido duro para muchas personas en el mundo. Algunas vacunas están saliendo ahora. No estoy seguro de cómo las distribuirán en todo el mundo. Como muchos de mis seguidores de hace mucho tiempo saben, cuido a dos adultos discapacitados en mi casa. Han pasado casi tres años desde que la salud de mi esposa la puso en un hospital. Terminé mi carrera como Consejero de Rehabilitación y me hice cargo del negocio de cuidados en casa para poder cuidar de mi esposa. Su salud ha tenido altibajos durante estos últimos años (y muchos años antes), pero actualmente está mejor. He podido notar que las cosas van mal y tomar medidas con su médico para rectificar la situación. Parece que nuestra casa debería poder recibir una vacuna muy pronto. Tengo que devolver una llamada el lunes y averiguar cuándo.

On a more positive note on December 14th I became a great-grandfather for the first time. My great granddaughter, Hanley was born early and is small, but is healthy and starting to gain some weight. I thought I would share a photo of her here.

En una nota más positiva, el 14 de diciembre me convertí en bisabuelo por primera vez. Mi bisnieta, Hanley, nació temprano y es pequeña, pero está sana y empieza a ganar algo de peso. Pensé en compartir una foto de ella aquí.

Here is a pansy I grew last year. Most years I plant a few because they are early flowers and can tolerate a cold spring.

Last year I had a great patch of sunflowers and took many photographs. I have not grown many flowers this year that I normally do because there just was not enough time. My workload actually increased during this Covid virus. That and my wife has had many extra medical appointments since early spring. So, this year I will continue browsing last years many sunflower photographs...they are always so cheerful.

El año pasado tuve un gran parche de girasoles y tomé muchas fotografías. Este año no he cultivado muchas flores como lo hago normalmente porque no hubo suficiente tiempo. Mi carga de trabajo aumentó durante el virus Covid. Eso y que mi esposa ha tenido muchas citas médicas extras desde principios de la primavera. Así que, este año continuaré confiando en las fotografías de girasoles del año pasado... son siempre tan alegres.

My final photograph was taken last year. This doe has had twins every year since I first saw her (7 or 8 years). She was a very intelligent animal and has left many offspring in our area. She raised these two young ones into the fall, but I saw that she was not looking well by then and was behaving different. Then I observed something I have never seen with whitetail deer and that was she had allowed the doe from her previous year's twins to join up and travel with them. As fall continued into early winter the older doe disappeared. The sister to the new twins kept the twins safe throughout the winter into the spring. I found this amazing. These twins were born later than most, and without their sister to stay with them I do not believe they would have survived the winter. When I last saw them they were looking very healthy.

Mi última fotografía fue tomada el año pasado. Este ciervo ha tenido gemelos todos los años desde que la vi por primera vez (hace 7 u 8 años). Era un animal muy inteligente y ha dejado muchas crías en nuestra zona. Ella crió estos dos cervatillos hasta bien entrado el otoño, pero vi que no se veía bien para entonces y se comportaba de manera diferente. Luego observé algo que nunca he visto con los ciervos de cola blanca y fue que había permitido a una de sus crías de sus gemelos del año anterior unirse y viajar con ellos. A medida que el otoño continuaba hasta principios del invierno, la vieja cierva desapareció. La hermana de los nuevos gemelos mantuvo a los gemelos a salvo durante todo el invierno hasta la primavera. Encontré esto increíble. Estos gemelos nacieron más tarde que la mayoría, y sin su hermana para quedarse con ellos no creo que hubieran sobrevivido al invierno. La última vez que los vi se veían muy saludables.

I am using a Canon EOS Rebel T5 for most photographs, except where noted. I do have an older PowerShot Canon camera that I use from time to time. Wildlife is usually taken by a stationary trail camera that takes photos based on motion.
