A quick look at the Victorinox soldiers knife, Victorinox needs no introduction as the most well known quality pen knife manufacturer in the world, well known for the traditional red pen knifes with multi functioning tools.
This particular blade is slightly different, the flat shape of standard pen knifes has gone and is replaced with a more ergonomic handle, and unlike many pen knifes the blade is serrated and locks - it also can be opened one handed.
Being in the UK this locking blade means it is not a legal carry "without good reason" so that has to be taken into consideration, also the serrations are more complicated to sharpen.
It comes with 11 tools, so less than many pen knifes, however I feel they have refined it down to the tools that will be used the most (do people ever use the corkscrew?)
This particular knife has served me very well over the past three years and im confident with care should last a lifetime.
Is it still handy for every day carry? I would go for a 91mm model with more functions packed into it. Like the swisschamp if your a camper or cybertool 41.
