View this post on Hive: Father's Day at Bateau Bay
Today is Father's Day here Down Under, I had a late night so woke up late. After breakie, my son gave me his surprise present he made himself and then I took a bit of lazy time before lunch. After lunch, we decided to all go for a GeoCaching session and I headed to Bateau Bay as it was on the way to The Entrance Beach where we wanted to go. It was mum first time Geocaching and she managed to find the hidden cache! We then noticed that Bateau Bay beach was just nearby and decided to stop and see how it looks like and to our surprise, it was beautiful, so we changed plan and stayed the whole afternoon.
Bateau Bay Beach is quite small and cute. It was low tide which revealed the rocky platforms with many pools of various sizes. I walked around and started to take pictures of rock reflection on the water of one of the pools.
San and mum were playing on the sand but soon joined me on the rocky platform. So we took the opportunity to take some portraits to send to the family on Facebook.
The weather was cold but the water in the shallow pools was warm thanks to the sunny day. In water, we saw the trail left by the marine snails. There were loads of them in some locations, making for some nice close up shots.
Then my wife thought this would be a great spot to make some rock balancing and found a great rock in the middle of the pool that I could use as a base. My first structure was difficult because the rock I was using was difficult to work with but I still managed to get the angles right in the end.
Here is the same structure but silhouette by the bright sky.
Some of the rocks here look amazing with their purple color.
As we walked back to our camp, I saw a big flat rock lying on top of another one and thought I'd balance it too as this would be my first structure that big.
What about a small rock on top of a huge one?
Next one is also a large rock, I tried to balance it so that it looks like it is defying gravity with its small pointy end at the bottom. The nearby water offered a great reflection.
This last photo shows two of my artwork, one in the foreground and one in the background. Can you spot it?

^ FYI I was actually the one who balanced those ones a little earlier before you got there
One of them was a slightly odd shape so it took me a good 3-4 mins, but I managed to do it anyway :p
Great stuff as always, take care

I almost missed the silhouette shot until I remembered to walk around to find a new angle. Same as the last image, I almost deleted it because I had to zoom a lot and the picture quality was low but that was actually adding to the mood.

as a child I would have collected those snails in a bucket with great enthusiasm LOL. The garden snails I collected always got returned but not before I could count them!
