Whenever you have a bad experience or you have to deal with an emotional challenge in life, you need to understand that you should not blame yourself for the past. In fact, you should be able to accept your mistakes and move on to the next level in life.

Self-compassion is a process of confronting systemic issues and resolving inadequacies
During times of stress, self-compassion acts as a buffer against negative emotions. Its purpose is to help the individual understand his or her pain and inadequacies without being judged. It also promotes a balanced perspective, equanimity, and compassion for others. The practice of self-compassion also helps reduce depression and anxiety.

It has been observed that people who are high in self-compassion tend to be more compassionate towards others. Interestingly, people who are high in self-compassion are more likely to seek out support and take responsibility for their actions, but less likely to wallow in negative feelings.

One of the main components of self-compassion is mindfulness, which involves a balanced perspective, understanding one's emotions, and not running away from negative thoughts. The mindfulness component of self-compassion also involves a recognition of one's common humanity.
