My Opinion about internet restriction in Indonesia, -an entry for @upmewhale contest

Hi Steemian how are you? Hopefully always healthy and creative work.
In the 21st century the internet has become the most important part of our lives. The internet allows us to reach long distances and times. We can get what we want with the internet. We can find out an event directly in another hemisphere. the internet has changed traditional society into a super modern society.
The internet is also an indication of freedom of speech. Freedom of opinion is one of the pillars of democracy. That way the internet can be put on hold as one of the branches of the pillars of democracy. people can freely express opinions through the internet. Usually this is done as one of the by pass because their votes are not represented by members of the people's representatives who sit in parliament.
With this internet service we will be overwhelmed if the internet does not exist. Have you ever imagined if the government suddenly banned the use of the internet? How is our anxiety related to business chaos, information caused by the prohibition?
Now on this occasion I want to write about some of the events that occurred in Indonesia relating to the prohibition or restrictions on the use of the internet.
The government has carried out banning the internet, or rather restrictions on the use of social media.

Restricting the use of the internet in Indonesia is a limitation on the use of social media by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in order to counteract the spread of hoaxes and provocative information in the community. This action was taken since the riots in Jakarta in order to oppose the results of the 2019 Indonesian Presidential Election. This restriction only applies to photos and videos sent via WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, not the entire access of the social media services. This restriction has been implemented by five internet service providers in Indonesia. According to the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Rudiantara, this restriction is only temporary, and access to social media will return to normal if the atmosphere is conducive, ie on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

This policy was carried out to reduce the massive hoaxes that occurred that triggered problems that could threaten national security.
we see so much that unconfirmed false news is spread like that. As a result, people who cannot properly choose the news can be provoked. This irresponsible action of Java to cause casualties both property and lives.

Pro and contra

Responding to government actions the community is also divided. There are pros and some cons. All have their own reasons.
For those who are prosecuting the prosecutors' policy, being aware that hoax circulation and hoaxes and hate speech have made people easily provoked so that they can cause riots.
For the cons, of course feel attacked by freedom of expression. They feel the government is closing the door to public information. These policies are detrimental to many people who use internet suits such as online sales,
which can be bad for the perpetrators. They will definitely experience material losses in the form of reduced income.
Of course we can agree or disagree with what the government is doing. There are always pros and cons in responding to a policy implemented by the government. However, we all must also be aware that what the government is doing is for the common good.
the government must have considered it well. The policy prohibits or limits social media at material and material risks to society. But if you let social media be used by hoaxes and hate speech and provocation, there is a risk of division in society.
In the case of social media restrictions in Indonesia, the community can finally understand that the interests of national unity and unity are more important than economic suspicion. Moreover, this limitation is only done for a few days to reduce the atmosphere so that it is more conducive.
From this event we learned a lot to be wise in using social media. do not let us believe it without doing crosscheck on the truth of a post. It is expected that with good synergy between servers, government, and internet users will create intelligent and wise communities using the internet.
