Invoking cloture on Ukraine aid bill.

LMAO.

Again just for those that don't understand, the Senate invoked cloture on the Ukraine aid bill. So per rules, senators were only allowed to speak for up to an hour. With a total limit of 30 hours after cloture.

So some Republican senators said they were doing a "talking filibuster". They weren't. The point of cloture is to break the filibuster. And one can't delay the vote after cloture is invoked. Once 30 hours are up the bill goes to a vote.

Republicans didn't even manage that. These goons didn't even speak for 30 hours. When Mike Lee finally was the last one to speak, Schumer called for the vote and it was agreed to. This was way before the 30 hours were up.

It was all just performative for their base that doesn't understand how the Senate works.

You can almost always assume these goons are being performative. We don't have the talking filibuster anymore. It is just basically assumed if a senator is going to filibuster that it holds unless cloture is invoked to limit debate. That's why technically in the Senate bills only need a simple majority, but in practice they need 60 as cloture needs 60 votes.
