Knowledge

What is knowledge?

Once we gain knowledge what do we do with it?

Book are tools for learning, for sharing, for gaining knowledge, for laughing, for crying, for never putting down.

I'm looking for recommendations, what something you've read lately and learned from? Or just something that is so good that you just want someone else to share in your excitement.

Let me know.

Scott

Knowing a thing and not doing it is like having the solution yet living in the challenge. Knowledge is good but applied knowledge is better.

Even with advances in technology, I still adore the smell of an old book! Try Mindset by Dr.Dweck or Outliers by Gladwell.

I second Outliers!

I love books myself. I've read over 400 of them.

The latest thing I've read and that I recommend is Antifragile by Nicholas Nassim Taleb. I enjoyed it because his crisp mind is so good at seeing through BS

Recently read a few blogs and articles on the pros and cons of the different point of views in the narration of a story and the choice of tenses used for the writing. An eye opener for me as well as for some of the indie authors with whom I work. Narration and tenses for story writing are definite topics worthy of further research and experimentation.

Audio books booming from Audible to Blunderwoman
But as always how to pitch an unpublished work directly to an audio publisher?

Who can forget the success of 'The Martian'?

Maybe writing audioplays instead of manuscripts is the way to go. Elmore Leonard-style sparce description and dialogue. So the producer knows exactly what will be coming through the speakers.

Choice of tenses is vitally important.
By chance would you have any links to those blogs/ articles??
They would be much appreciated.

Internal Dialogue (Busy Writer's Guides Book 7)
Deep Point of View (Busy Writer's Guides Book 9)
Showing and Telling in Fiction (Busy Writer's Guides Book 4)
There were other book/internet sources, but the above ones were the starting point for me.
Thanks for your interest.

Many thanks will check out

This is pretty old though but try Chromosome 6 by Robin Cook.

The Tunnels series was pretty cool. It's a great sci-fi adventure about a world under ground. (http://www.tunnelsthebook.com/)

Knowledge is something that changes what you are.

Read the books of Carlos Castaneda. They are the only books I ever recommend.

Kitaplar benim icin her zaman gizemli ve ilgi cekici olmustur.

Knowledge is power

Knowledge is power.

Knowledge is nothing but a representation of reality as interpreted by the senses.

On a side note--our knowledge-of-the-world is so fragile as exposed by Agent Smith.

knowledge is in you that no one can take off...

Knowledge is the only thing that nobody can take away from you!!

I love books. I guess I do not have a day without reading books. this is the greatest treasure. ! creativity, self-expression power, and all that is good is the book and reading. I loved this sweet library :) beautiful philosophy and photography. Thank you

Knowledge illumes the mind and the mind that is open to new idea never returns to its original size.

Good books strengthens the mind. Although I'd recommend a book I read over and over again but it may appear obsolete. No other than How to make friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. Thanks, I hope you find one

Amazing fact about knowledge is that the acquisition of new knowledge makes you yearn for more

The more you know, the more beautiful the Game. Read "The Glass Bead Game" by Hermann Hesse, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for this work. But this is just a game ...
Here is a little bit of mine

I can really recommend "The power of a half hour" by Tommy Barnett and "5 second rule" by Mel Robbins, they have lifechanging potential, trust me.

"The only thing I know is that I know nothing." Socrates.
This is knowledge.

The latest thing i read was eragon ! Its such a stunning and amazing story..to bad the movie version sucks so bad and most ppl i told bout the books r to lazy to even get their hands on some

Knowledge is Power. If you have more knowledge you have more desire to gain. I reckon you to read
A Short History of Nearly Everything
Its a great knowledge book you need to sit and read back.

weird post hahahaha :D

Books are life.

I'm currently reading Brandon Sanderson's "Oathbringer." He does an excellent job of world building. I've enjoyed his earlier books in the series more than this, but it's still fun to see where the series goes.

Hey Scott, I enjoyed the way you present your picture. I'm trying to follow a similar patter and write short stories tied to the image.

The last book I read was a compilation of inspiring stories for the life of famous athletes.

Nice wedding photos by the way. I checked your website.

Books are the threshold leading to the imaginary world which is almost all the time perfect. The one book that has affected me most is the Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult. It is about the phases the family of a boy who got raped by a priest goes through. It is full of climaxes from the very beginning, just give it a try...

knowledge is in you that jo one can take off...

I totally agree!! :)
The series I'm reading now: Earth's Children from Jean M. Auel

Investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Btw read The River of Consciousness by Oliver Sacks

I started a book business this year, books are life.

Nice post.I respect you very much because you contribute to steemit.I will do activities like you.I would like to extend the steemit.

Nothing quite like the smell of anew book and fresh coffee 🙌

I recently read a book the second time concerning Marriage, because i'm just few months away, the more reason why I'm talking about it, it's really changed my perspective on the subject. Really interesting knowledge about the life after, how to manage each others differences, temperament, finance, relating with in-laws and so on.
I'm currently on the third book this week and still counting.

Talking about recommendations? You might want to pick up Passion and Purpose: Stories from the Best and Brightest Young Business Leaders by John Coleman, its also my next

I am telling you! Keep reading!

Very vintage oldskool! Even the books!

knowledge is the answer to ignorance

Esto me apasiona como bibliotecologa que soy, saludos

nice post...!!
" book's a repository of knowledge "

Continuous learning is one of the keys to success in life. No matter what you do.
Learning, wisdom and success are three things that fit together hand-in-glove.

Please read "A Prayer For Owen Meany" by John Irving. It's an old book though (1989 to be precise). I learnt a lot from the two main characters in the book. One who was in search of the truth about his father's identity and another who knew the date of his death

Science is everything, without science we are nothing

There are many authors I like, but I’ll just mention a few here: Virginia Henley, kat Martin, Kathleen woodiwiss, Connie mason, Madeline hunter, Heather graham, Monica McCarty, Constance obanyon, Marsha canham and more.

I'm dealing with depression so I try to fix my mindset. I'm still reading; Flip It by Michael Heppell. "This book will show you a different way of thinking, acting, feeling and doing whereby you can easily and simply get the very best out of every situation you find yourself in. You'll learn straightforward techniques that you can use to make the bad times more bearable, the good times better than ever and everyday life just, well, less everyday." they said.

i will say knowledge is not only powerful but also take a greatness along . because i love reading in order to gain knowledge. in fact is a confident it self.
i like reading entrepreneurship books like, books of James Altucher.

I recommend the book of life "Holy book" of your religion

Try to read any of the following:

  1. Fountainhead Ayn Rand the book was so good that they made a movie of it in 1949 (Valuing yourself and principles)
  2. Og Mandino books The Great salesman in the World (Good storytelling quick read )
  3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck Mark Manson (Choosing what to care about)
  4. Code of Extraordinary Mind Vishen Lakhiani (Interesting read)

The first book I recommend to people is usually Endurance, by Alfred Lansing - the story of the "failed" Antarctic Shackleton expedition, which, similar to Apollo 13, is a more remarkable story than the successful missions.

As I peruse the collection of my own private library, one book stands above the others: My Utmost for His Highest, by Oswald Chambers. Many books give knowledge, but the most valuable books to me are those that offer wisdom. In this book, Chambers challenges our innermost being.

What do we do? I think books are going to pour.

I have just started "The Daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday which has snippets of the greatest stoics of all times as well as his own interpretation of it. Why am I reading this? Simply to gain the knowledge on perseverance and how to view life from a different angle.

woooww!!! beautiful photos, I would like to see one of the dancers! Amazing!😃

Hey there Scott.

Probably the book that I've learnt the most from is Antifragile by Nicholas Nassim Taleb. It gets a bit technical in some parts, but it will open your eyes to an interesting perspective on life.

Cheers!

Great pic and knowledge is indeed the key to many doors including the door to the mind

If you've not already read it, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert!

How i love books. I cannot stay a week without buying a book. Just got a book and its titled "the power of your mind" the mind can be referred to the concept of reorganizing or reprogramming your mind (its contents
and processes) with God’s Word and aligning your thinking, perceptions and mindset about God, other people, the world, and yourself, with His Word. I recommend you to get it. It helps in mind management.

I love books, I want this kind of library or even mini-library, perhaps someday I'll have one

knowledge is never ending
