Carcassonne es un juego de mesa, clasificado como EUROGAME, donde los jugadores toman un color y se dedican a colocar losetas y MEEPLES (muñequitos de madera que representan trabajadores) para ir generando un mapa que recrea la localidad de carcassonne, una parte de Francia que tuvo en la época medieval muchos castillos que se expandían tanto que se juntaban los unos con los otros.
Los Jugadores colocan los trabajadores de su color, ya sea para reclamar los castillos, bandidos en las carreteras, sacerdotes en las iglesias, cazadores de animales, entre otros! al final del juego gana quien haya hecho mas puntos de victoria, terminándose el juego cuando acaban las losetas.
Es un juego clásico diseñado por Klaus-Jürgen Wrede de 2 a 5 jugadores con una duración aproximada de 40 a 60 minutos, de esos juegos modernos que sirven para días lluviosos.
