I have been running for years. With one goal in mind. To be one of the few to run under 4 minutes in the mile. FYI there have been less than 500 ever in history as of 12/28. I would say I wasn't given a whole lot of talent when it comes to this sport, but I am trying to make the most with what I have. The day starts with drive to a local highschool track, I picked the track where no one comes to. This helps me stay focused and mentally get in the zone. The picture below is mid workout and shows the gorgeous views from the flatirons mountains in Boulder. For this workout I ran longer intervals followed by the fun wheel spinning sprints. The track helps me know my pace exactly and the exact pace is meant to train my body to become more efficient in a weakened state. The last 300 I ran in about 42.8 which is equivalent to a sub 4 minute mile. :-)
After the track, I head straight to the gym where I get in my explosive lifts. This is paired with a workout day in attempts to only work those set of muscles once. Leaving the next couple days for me to recover and get ready for the next hard session. This picture below shows a hang clean. I especially like anything where you have to use your body to lift the bar. It is very fun and I would highly suggest to anyone looking to spice up their gym routine. After jumping, throwing, and lifting things. I head home to scarf down as much food as I can before work starts. Fueling and recovering are probably the most important aspects of the sport because if you don't do those properly everything else falls apart.
