Hi, David. Listening to episode 71 of Love Your Work today made me revisit Steemit after months of not checking it out.
I love the idea of Steemit as an experiment in using cryptocurrency to support content creators and I think it's great that it worked for you at some level. However, looking at the top and trending page I can't seem to shake the feeling that it's more of a thin slice of Reddit (a messy Reddit without subreddits) than a content publisher such as Medium. And maybe that's the reason why I (as an audience) don't find Steemit as attractive to me.
Medium solved a problem for me, which is the ability to follow a series of authors, topics, and interests, and of discovering new content that might interest me, all in one convenient location. For authors, it became a source of readers, bringing them exposure without the distraction of ads and clickbait.
Maybe it's a matter of time to see Steemit growing and evolving, and maybe Steem moving outside just its current pocket universe. Who knows?
(I would love to see Steemit or a similar cryptocurrency available as a way of supporting authors and creators.)
Congrats on the milestone!
