My SteemIt Curation Income

I took the picture above just for this post. It shows a toy steam-engine hauling a dollar bill as it crosses an Atlas in front of a globe.

Now For the Post

I joined SteemIt back in April 2018. I hope that, someday in the not to distant future, I will start receiving an income for my efforts.

I am basically 100% powered up in STEEM, BLURT and HIVE. I've moved money between the accounts. I created some communities and sent money to Steem-Engine. That money disappeared.

Anyway, I figured that I better get serious about earning an income; So, I went through all of my accounts and calculated my weekly earnings.

It appears that I am making $4.27 a week from my curation efforts!

My STEEM Income

The Weekly Curation Report on SteemItWallet.com appears to be the best tool for judging curation income on SteemIt.

I have 540 STEEM. I upvote 5 times throughout the day at 99%. I then vote 5 times before going to bed. My average voting power is about 97%.

The report shows that my base vote is worth 0.006 SP. When I front run a whale, the curation reward jumps to over 30.

Sadly, when I upvote posts from unpopular users, my reward vanishes as dust.

I have a nasty habit of upvoting posts for new users. This is a dangerous habit for people whose upvote is less than $0.02.

That said: My weekly curation rewards seem to fluctuate between 0.6 and 1.0 STEEM.

I hope to start withdrawing one STEEM a week when my income is reliably over 1 STEEM a week. Hopefully this will happen this year.

Recap for HIVE-Engine and Blurt

Things have been slightly better on HIVE. I became a dolphin back in June 2021. I was earning 10 HIVE a week in curation rewards. That amount tumbled this year. I suspect that HIVE whales have figured out how to harvest the lion share of the curation rewards.

The sad reality of STEEM style blockchains is that people in voting blocks can harvest most of the rewards.

The other big problem on HIVE is that the witnesses set the interest on HBD to 20%. The high interest on this guaranteed derivative sucked the life out of the other coins.

Blurt Income

Blurt has an intriguing twist. This SteemIt hardfork charges a fee for all transactions. Charging people to post and upvote reduces the spam.

Currently one needs about 4400 BLURT for the upvote to cover the upvote fee.

Unfortunately, the site had problems with its swap program. In years past, I sent 3000 BLURT to the swap. @blurtlink and @graphene-swap simply took my money and never deposited it in BLURT.

Last month I decided to give BLURT another go. I brought my account up to 4444 BLURT. I kept 24 BLURT free so that I would have ready cash to upvote and write posts.

The Blurt Block Explorer is interesting. It shows that with 4420 BLURT power, my 100% upvote is just slightly higher than the fee! That means that, in theory at least, the account is moving forward.

Conclusion

I tallied up my SteemIt Empire. It appears that I earned $4.27 from my blockchain investments last week. It is a lot of work for nominal rewards. I hope that I might some day be in a position where I actually receive an income from this effort. I will periodically update my income page.

At the moment I like Blurt and Steemit the best. I get everything downvoted on Hive. Not sure why. You can earn some pretty good returns with a delegation to @jsup on both Steemit and Blurt. Anyway I will give you upvotes on both platforms.

Wow, the HIVE whales are mad at you.

They chose who to downvote on discord servers and never tell the targets of the downvote the reason for the downvotes.

It appears to me that your stuff is original.

You aren't an AI by chance?

Are your posts on STEEM and HIVE identical? That might be the reason.

Nope. I’m not AI …. My posts are always different and all Original Photography from my iPhone. It’s just themarkymark who downvotes all my posts. Not sure why. He won’t say … probably because I sold all my Hive to buy Bitcoin at $16,000
