Contests for Creatives on Steemit

Fellow Steemian @conradt is hosting a contest to earn @steambasicincome shares and has asked: What are some helpful Steem initiatives? i.e. projects that help others.

I had written previously about GINAbot and dustsweeper so decided to share some contests I know about.

Contest are a great way to earn a little SBD or Steem Basic Income (shares that give you an upvote on future posts). But what I really enjoy about contests are the prompts and stimulation to write or share something. It can be a challenge sometimes to think of something to post about. Contests are also a great way to meet new people by reading their entries and finding a connection, someone you really click with.

Writing Contests

"Finish the Fiction" contest hosted by @f3nix You're given an introductory script and are asked to finish the script in 500 words. Rewards are steembasicincome and a share of the SBD pot.

As mentioned @conradt hosts contests mostly lately on how you would improve STEEMit, advice for newbies, etc. his latest is here

@vermillionfox has a contest "Fox Tales" where you write a paragraph based on their artwork as a prompt

@danielsaori, witness "Comment like a Champ/Epic Comments" competition. Just what it says - write a "god like" comment to the post you are given.

@improv Pun competition Always a fun read and good for a laugh!

@johngreenfield "This Week I'm Asking You" (to recommend a bad movie)

Contests by Initiatives/Services/3rd Parties

@OriginalWorks has contests usually revolving around a token/cryptocurrency. The guidelines and sponsor are very detailed and defined but have very nice payment for winners.

@dustsweeper, A service that upvotes your .01/.02 votes (considered "dust" by Steemit) are paid for them from your SBD that you send to fund the action. Has various contest aimed at helping newbies https://steemit.com/contest/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-s-refer-a-friend-and-nominate-a-newbie-game

Witness contests/engagement

Many witnesses host games and contests to help the Steemit community.

An exercise I recommend is to figure out how to vote for witnesses. Have you voted for all your witnesses yet?

I didn't vote for all of them until recently. I had voted for a few when I first joined but then forgot about it.
The person who helped me figure this out was @enforcer48 with their https://steemit.com/contest/@enforcer48/vote-for-witnesses post.

There are other Steemians who write posts recommending their favorite witnesses - do a search for "who to vote for witness" and spend a day going through and reading about witnesses and their projects. It made me feel more connected with the platform and a participant.
