THANKSGIVING MEANS GIVING THANKS...

in steemit •  5 years ago

Good morning, noon or night, where ever you are my #steemit friends. I am so pleased to call you my friends.
We support each other, listen to each others troubles and triumphs, express ourselves in such a communal way. I think it's fantastic. I truly enjoy #steemit .com.

Let's not get all mushy, like we do on #foodfightfriday. Throwing food with love and affection, AND lots of competition.
But I have got to send @appreciator a huge hug for the support that he sends our way. Thank you.

These guys @dandays, @jlsplatts and @idig know how to run a rally.
Love those people, I have been on #steem for 1 year now, even through I didn't post for another 2 months after I joined, I was learning about the #crypto market #blockchain and #ecosystem. My son @ryan313 turned us onto this wonderful place to meet new people. WOW! good move Ry, thanks.

Going into retirement for two VERY active people can be challenging.

Not so for @thebigsweed and I...

We #garden,#grow #food #homestead #flowers #herbs and #family.
We make our own #maple #syrup, #beer, grow #trees then go on an adventure in the really cold months, late January to the 1st week in March.

2nd week of March is the sugar maple tapping time. It's when the sap runs. That's when we catch it.
Beautiful stuff, so clean and crisp, we take long swigs of it, totally pure and refreshing.

I believe family is the root for a strong society. Family can be someone you have known for your entire life, like your children or grand children. But family also includes all those we care for and love,
hang on to them, no matter what, form new friendships when ever you can, they may save your life. Even better, you could save theirs.

I have saved a life in my lifetime, not by being the care giver to those I love, but to a complete stranger. While working the 3rd shift in the hospital, I had a patient ,58 y/o, who had suffered a leaching brain aneurism . With swift action, and a really great Ct scanner, this man was diagnosed and sent to surgery within the hour.

BUT....

I was the one who broke protocol, and called the neurosurgeon directly from my CT scanner. I knew this guy would die if time was wasted, I called the surgeon at home and told him what I saw on the scan. I knew this doctor from years of working with him in the OR,
he was a skilled surgeon who had saved a lot of people.
I prayed for this husband and father and also myself.

I cried that night.

Life is hard sometimes, but when it works out, no words can describe the profound feeling of joy and accomplishment one single act of courage and love can express.

Thanks to all my steemit friends.I have been given a voice to express myself .

Happy 1st steemitversary @farm-mom 👐 it always nice to see the stories, recipes, pictures you've shared here ... my free ride to a distant place that I've never dream to explore, hope to see more wonderful posts from you and your family.. Happy Thanksgiving!

Well hello there my friend @cicisaja. Steemit has been such a wonderful experience for me.
"free ride to a distant place" well said, that's why I love #fff so much, to experience how others from all around the world... EAT! It's cool to talk to people from the other side of the world, across the ocean or across the street (well I haven't met anyone in my town yet that steems, but you know what I mean.
Have a wonderful Holiday!

Thank you for personally adding me to this article, @farm-mom. God bless you guys.

And thanks for leading by example. Not just the how to survive part but the staying together part, that part. In a time where divorce is anticipated and marriage is just a motion, you guys are leading by example.

That was a cool shot of Santa, by the way, showing the kids how to drill the maple tree and a slight angle. 👍🏿

Well hello there @dandays. Happy Thanksgiving Day!
I can't believe that I have been on steemit for a year already. I have to laugh at myself on how dumb I was.
Well still am, just not so obviously, hehe.
I mean it took me 4 or 5 tries posting for #fff, I thought you had to post before Friday, not on Friday duh??
But I have to say, I really enjoy the platform and all my new friends.
Especially you man and of course, @puravidaville. You both have been so helpful and supportive.
Thanks so much.

Santa and I just got lucky I guess, we have stuck together through thick and thin and still have fun together.
The scary part is that we actually can read each others minds, I swear. Sometimes I am thinking about say, my daughter, next thing out of Bob's mouth "let's call Erica". It's crazy, I guess when you have been together for 50 years, yup 50, we met when I was 15 and he was 17, you really do become one, mind, body and soul.
I wish you and pura a very long and happy life together.
Have a wonderful holiday, what are you guys eating, a tofu shaped turkey?😁🙄❤😉

Lol. Nah, nobody else recognizes thanksgiving, we’ll probably do “something” but more than likely it’ll be fish. I have a tough time stomaching tofu—that was funny, though.

Just to continue on what you’re saying. I, we, have a long time to go but what you said reminded me of something my buddy (much older and wiser than me) told me the first time I got married.. I was 25, it lasted 11 months, end of story. He told me “you take on each other’s karma.”

He’s been married probably as long as you guys. I never forgot that. And now I’ll remember the ESP part forever, too, happy thanksgiving you guys!

Lovely post! Loved the kids tapping trees.

Great story about the CT scanner and moving outside the box!

Hi there @goldenoakfarm, Happy Thanksgiving!
So glad you liked my post. We love when the grandkids visit, they just love the farm. We had three of them up last weekend and we played hard. By the time they left, I ached all over, I was exhausted, I think it was too much whiffle ball 🤷‍♂️😁
And my cheeks hurt from so much smiling and laughing.

Happy Thanksgiving hon! And yes, you are so right! It is so important to appreciate ALL the special people in our lives, we never know how much time we have with them...and that includes friends because like you say, family comes in many forms... even our furry friends :)

Hi @jaynie, Happy Thanksgiving to you also.
I really enjoy Thanksgiving because it's a holiday that really is about giving to others and appreciating our loved ones. It's a day to say thanks to friends for being there for us. It's a day when hugs and food abound.
Sending hugs to you and your beautiful boy, as well as your furry friends.😊

Thank you! MWAH!
