When To Publish Your Articles For Maximum Exposure. [Battle plan]steemCreated with Sketch.

Fellow Steemians,

We all want exposure. We would love to get thousands of readers, thousands of followers, hundreds of comments and tons of $ rewards on your content. - But how do we get it?

How?

That's a very common question and truth to be told, there is no secret formula. I have been a member on Steemit for 1 year now and I've had my fair share of "mistakes" and "failures". - In all honesty, I haven't had any failures or mistakes at all... But I've had some insane rewards a couple of times, even though I got most of them 11 months ago. - That being said, I've had some amazing rewards on a couple of articles but most of my articles haven't reached life-changing rewards. - In that sense, I am just like you and most of the other Steemians.

Hard work & effort.

These are the key ingredients for success. High quality is another ingredient. Timing and luck is two other factors. - There's a handful of things you should focus on. Build your following, interact with your readers and all these sort of things...

However, you need to understand that both timing and luck will play a major role when it comes to getting a highly rewarded post. - At least for minnows and for Steemians who haven't established themselves enough to get regular support from dolphins, follow-trails and/or whales.

This kid's timing is incredible.

What To Do Then?

When I first started out, in July 2016, I did some research.
I tried to analyze people's behaviour. I tried to find specific voting patterns and the best thing I came up with, was to publish articles multiple times per day, at different hours.

I live in Sweden and I've been working online for several years, so I already knew that time zones would play a huge role. At least in terms of sales. I've been a freelancer for years and I knew that people from the US would be awake and active when the time in Sweden were between 01.00 PM and 06.00 AM. - That's how things works in my business, so I guessed it would be more or less the same on Steemit too.

That means, that I would be able to reach more people if I were to publish my posts during these hours. Which means very late days and nights for me.

I am basically awake during the evenings and nights and I sleep during the mornings and days. - As I've been doing that for the last couple of years, I'm totally fine with that... And it's the ideal thing for me.

That being said...

Even though you might have a higher chance to gain exposure for your articles during these hours... You shouldn't focus on people from the US.

I guess it was a pretty huge deal "back in the days", a year ago... As whales were voting all day long, but things aren't like that nowadays. - Nowadays we have Streemian and voting-trails. We have bots and you don't even have to spend time in front of your computer at all and you can still upvote your favorite authors.

Also, Steemit has grown. By multitudes. - There are people from all over the world nowadays, so you can reach tons of people whenever you publish your articles.

Not only that. Due to Streemian and trails, it's enough if you reach one person, and as soon as that person votes on your content, all the users who follows that persons trail will vote on your content too. - Automatically.

And even though it's not too likely that you'll get votes on old content, you can get votes all the way until you have 12 hours remaining on your posts. Before payout. - Some of the generous whales and dolphins are actually browsing the entire platform to find some gems to upvote, so you'll have a chance for upvotes until you get paid for your articles.

  • Make a habit of your own.
  • Publish multiple posts per day.
  • Publish on different hours.
  • Stick to your plan.

That being said, I should not even have to tell you to publish quality content. - So make sure to publish 3 quality articles instead of 8 articles of poor quality. - If you can publish 4 articles of high quality per day, that would be great!

It's easy to keep track of the results you get if you publish 3 or 4 articles. Keep track and take notes. - Do this for about 1 week. After that, you'll be able to see exactly how many eyeballs and upvotes you've got. And the amount of comments.

The week after that, reduce the posts you make, and make 1 less. Always reduce the article that brought you the least results. - After 2 or 3 weeks you'll be able to see a great pattern, and that's when you start to produce even more articles again, or higher quality. Longer content. - Whatever floats your boat.

Hey @hitmeasap , nice to see a fellow Swede do well on Steemit, very inspirational. Been into cryptos since early but have had more focus on transitioning into a healthier and more minimalistic lifestyle.

Now i'm ready to focus on sharing my experiences and what better platform than Steemit to do so? :) Thinking about writing some guides for example about the importance of water and how to create a decentralized local food market. What is your take on writing such guides and repost them with new information as you go along?

Hey! - Yeah, it's nice to see people from Sweden here. I've actually seen more than a handful these last couple of weeks so that's pretty cool. :)

Honestly, I don't know about that. But I definitely believe you should give it a test run. - Just make sure that you don't spend several hours on each article, as most of them will be overlooked. - That's a huge problem actually. That quality content doesn't get decent rewards, but there's also so much content being published so it's literally impossible to reward everyone. - That said, don't spend 3-4-5 hours for starters at least. If you do that, you'll most likely end up miserable.

A better approach would be to publish shorter articles or articles you don't spend several hours on. - That way, you'll also be able to publish more articles per day, and that will increase your exposure in general. :)

Thanks for the advice. I think i'll try to write som more basic guides to get started and then update and repost when I get some traction. Would like a chance to talk to you going forwards, we have a lot in common it seems, also a gamer by heart! ;)

Yeah sure! - You can always find me in steem.chat and in Discord. - I'd love to discuss things with Swedes as I've had a few ideas in the early days, but I never saw another Swede. :D

cool, been working on my "studio" here at home, got the basics set up. I'll look for you on Discord, which channel, link?

you need to understand that both timing and luck will play a major role when it comes to getting a highly rewarded post

...but mostly luck. And high quality content, with luck. And mostly luck. And knowing your niche and luck. But, mostly luck with being very active in the community by commenting and replying to post. However, you'll need luck.

Well.. I wouldn't say that you need that much luck, but you definitely need luck. - If you approach steemit properly, you'll also work hard to maximize your chances. So you work towards your own luck so to speak.

However, luck is obviously a key factor. Especially in the beginning. But there's plenty of things you can do to increase your overall experience and these things won't go unnoticed. - Sooner or later, someone will pick it up. That being said, after HF19, you don't really need whale votes as much as you did prior to HF19 to reap rewards. Although, you won't be able to reach thousand dollar posts without whales.

That, I'd agree on! :)

Didn't realize that timing on the post could make a difference. Thanks for the tip :)

Just take a look at all the new articles being published each second... It's impossible to read all of them. And you'll miss out on a bunch of superb articles if you don't read all of them 24/7... - And that's why it's important to find a good time frame to publish your own posts. To get as much exposure as you can.

The real question is, if this is true, would STEEMit allow for a Delay Publish option so that people could pick when their articles were published?

I think @fyrstikken requested this feature about 11 months ago. Much due to the nights and days he had to be up to publish content "at the best time". Way back in the days that is. They never implemented such a feature. I can't say why though. - However, busy.org (I believe?) have recently made such a feature available. Or is about to do it.

I can't keep up with all the ways I have to do things outside of STEEMit for STEEMit to work best for me inside of STEEMit.

I definitely appreciate the advice, I've been trying to figure out the best times to post. Would you say it's better during the night or day?

Some people claim the best time to be during the afternoon and evenings. EST.

However, I'd recommend finding your own "best time", as that will benefit you the most in the long haul.

Great post, I am finding it really hard to be seen but then I only have 47 followers at the moment, I have been focusing on trying to pick the right tags but had not considered the time of day to post!

Tags are very important too, so continue to pick the correct tags. :)

Thanks for this information. My goal for today was to explore the best time to post and SEO so this helped a lot. -Nice summary of how to manage posting on Steem. Much appreciated!

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it. :)

Hark work is the key. We have to make this from our heart, because - in time - life will change...

Well said.

Great information!
I am also trying to understand what exactly builds your reputation score.
Blessings to you!!

I'm glad you liked it :)
Reputation score will increase with upvotes. If you get upvotes from heavily invested people (aka. whales), your reputation score will skyrocket! - On the other hand, if you get flagged, your reputation score will decrease.

Thank you for the info, much appreciated!!

Yes, hard work and good content. I'll have to work on bringing in more content per day.

Thank you for your help. Quite good tips.
Would be great to have a tool to see, which time would be the best. But looking at different language, time zones, and content tags it will not be easy.

Im new to Steemit and new to the Crypto space. So information like this is great to see and read. Thank you for posting this.
I do have a plan and I'm working on getting things sorted out to build what Steemit is providing me.
Thanks again

Has really everything to be scaled... - put in figures... - lined up in charts... - and trends... - and timezones?

"Does a sound exist that no one heard?"

"Is real content only measured by votes?"

Some of those, who are earning most on steemit, are those, whose contributions are decreasing steadily!

But aren't we sheep... - following the masses without questioning anymore... - ?"

It's your choice... - always was... - always will!

Hello! I just wanted to thank you for everything you do for others on here. Especially how you try to help the minnows, and how you do your best to make sure you don't overlook anyone.

It's kinda hard getting settled in. I've managed to carve out a little niche for myself with a free art even I throw every Friday. I think it's the thing that gets me the most attention and that I'm best recognized for. Even still, it can be hard to settle in.

It's nice to know there's someone like you out there working to help out the little guys.

So yeah. Thank you so much for everything you do. I've been reading your blog since a few days after I joined up.

You take care, and I hope you're having a great day/night.
