FVL Reduced to 625 in preparation for next week's big upgrade!

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

As we prepare for next week's big roll our of Elysian Fields we have reduced the FVL from 1250 to just 625 SP! We also have a few concerns to address.

Grace period

There will be a 30 day grace period from the time of Elysian Fields' release before any Shadow Ranks will ever be reduced.

Powering Up Retention

If you are powering up at least 1 SP per week we will not reduce your Shadow Rank if you are under the FVL. You will no longer be able to earn after next week more Shadow Rank past 25 until you are over the FVL, but you will retain the rank you have earned so far! This ensures over time you will reach the FVL and at that point begin earning rank again. We will also make sure our system does take into account these types of users and once over the FVL reward them for working so hard!

Bonuses

There are a few hidden bonuses we aren't prepared yet to release but will greatly benefit all our members! Be sure to start checking our posts and website more often to ensure you get them! Hidden prizes and contests are just the start of these little bonuses we are starting!

Is it all done by SP now? because I can see a low shadowrank user who now has a high pool priority due to having near 10k SP, problem is they have delegated all of it to another account - so contribute nothing and will be effectively draining the reward pool without giving anything back.

This seems massively unfair.

Delegated SP still does count on blockchain toward their casted up vote strength, but to your point going forward delegated SP will only be worth 50% toward Shadow Rank boosts vs organic vested Steem Power. IE if you "rent" 10,000 SP it will only give you 0.5 Shadow Rank boost for every 1 Shadow Rank Boost that person would receive owning and actually vesting (Powering Up) that 10,000 SP!

It is not all done by SP, our algorithm is very simple and outlined in this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@shadowbot/voting-allocations-have-been-upgraded-critical-update

Sorry i might be using the wrong steemit terminology, What I mean is I can see a user who owns nearly 10000 organic steem power, they have delegated 9900 of it to another account so they now have a effective vote power of 100, yet are ranked on shadowbot as having 10000 still and have a very high pool priority but will be contributing next to nothing.

(these are not the exact numbers but it gets my point across)

Oh now that would be a bug on our end and not part of our design. If a user owns 10,000 SP and is delegating 9,900 of it (having 100 left un-delegated) they should reflect as 100 not 10,000. Please provide us with the user(s) you see so we can include this in our critical bugs if it is in fact happening. Thank you so much!

Welcome shadowbot

Our team will look into this and decide the best course of action. We have no official statement to make other than thank you for the input right now!

This should help give everyone enough time to powerup enough to hold your SR. Powering down while having to little SP isn't helping your self steem/steemit or the pool. Think of Sp and an engine that prints money the bigger the engine the more money you make, the more engines working together the more money we all make together. Think of shadowbot as an enhancer if you are doing the right things like powering up.

Great analogy JB - if everyone powered up 1sp per day the pool would grow insanely fast!

it's hard for some of the us who have just started on steemit to come up with such steem power , the new rules are rely hard for the small guys.

Trust us with this the system is actually empowering those who are good steemians and casters! This will ensure that abusers do not leach off resources good casters like you should be getting! We have no intention to ever harm any good steemians we just want to ensure we keep the pool going as we scale!

Awesome, I am glad that you changed the FVL, I love it! I will do my best to gain 625 SP organically by the end of grace period. Kind regards.

As long as you are making an effort you have about 45 days to begin either being over the new 625 FVL or at least power up 1 SP per week to maintain your Shadow Rank. No one who is working hard and powering up will be reduced! And our goal is to ensure everyone has enough time and ability to grow with us. This is not a punishment for good steemians but rather a step forward to curb abuse!

It seems like the new rule will discourage any new users from joining if they are under the FVL since the benefits will be so small compared to lost VP. Maybe brand new users won’t miss their vote but people like me in the 300s will not want to join at all. Am I missing something?

New users begin at 1 Shadow Rank already and earning 25 will greatly earn them! New users can begin to earn and/or power up to be over the FVL. Either way our promise and mission to all is to ensure good steemians are the ones who benefit from our system most. We always take feedback and make tweaks to ensure everyone has a fair chance of earning!

Oh sorry I missed the 25 part somehow. My apologies. That sounds better.

Our mission has been and always will be to ensure everyone who works hard earns!

Congratulations @shadowbot!
