Steemfest2 How in the world will I make it there. Plus a steemfest video.

As the dates get closer and closer.

I find my self wondering about it. After some calculation I know now that it will cost me 1000 euro more or less to attend the steemfest2 event at Lisbon. After attending steemfest Amsterdam there is that inner need for me to be back to meet again with my global family at Portugal. But it is a financial huge step back on my side, as much as it is for anyone I guess.

So what I do in this situation, take some risks by investing in some speculating hyped coins to get the profits for my tickets?
Play lotto or gamble my way out to Lisbon, none of this options really fit me, I do invest but I take Long bets rather than short, I can't really speculate the market, you never know which coin China will ban tomorrow. So as the days go by I feel my dream to make it to Lisbon is getting further away from my horizon.

So I find my self watching this steemfest video at vimeo over and over again. (if you haven't watched it yet for yourselves then I am pasting it here for your viewing pleasure).

@eagleboy and @steemychicken1 had this video created for steemit from our visit there the past November. So if you are in the same boat I am at this moment, hopefully this can bring back a huge smile over your faces.

If something changes in the coming 2 months that will allow me to be there with you all, I will.

I was working a full time job and try to keep up with steemit blogging at the same time. Unfortunate I haven't made it to collect the cash I will need yet and that hurts a bit. It sucks to be a Greek, The wages here are a joke. In retrospective I would probably be making a better income if I wasn't wasting my time with my full time job and just keep on Steeming it. But that is speculation again, and there is no way you can tell for sure or calculate what the possible income you could get anyway.

Well I hope things will dramatically change, and maybe a weekly power down in a month can provide me with the funds needed for this trip. Because there is nothing else on my head right now. So to anyone that is at the same position as I am at the moment. I wish you guys the best of luck at attending and hopefully we can all have a blast together at Lisbon.

Steem on.

due respect.
@skapaneas.

Hi Skapaneas! I really hope you can make it for another round!

Here is some help I found. I think most expensive will be the flight:

  • 186 - 200 EUR roundtrip from Athens. (direct / 1 stop combos - use skyscanner to search the best offers)

There are some current SteemFest ticket give aways by @firepower and @blueorgy for example. So if you win one of those it is one step closer.

Additionally I found around the corner of the "official hotels" which are already having their rate going up & up, as we past the cheap booking dates, a 2 person room for EUR 345 for 5 nights (Hotel Flamingo), which you could try to find a roommate (search the #steemfest tag and monitor https://steemit.chat/channel/steemfest . For hotels I recommend you use Booking.com and search on the map near 'Marques de Pombal' area as the busses leave from there, and opening drinks are over there. None the less Lisbon is very easy to travel with great subway connections.

  • If you could split the room that would add another 170 euro.

So then many of the steemfest days are covered all expenses / food & drinks. But just to be sure add for 3 days about 35 euro food == 105 euro.

So the cheapest option would be under 500 euro. Then you can apply @t-r-f to get some money back. If you go lower on the hotel you could even bring the moneys down some more...

I recommend you join those contests, and find a roommate to split the hotel :) Really hope you can make it!

Kind regards, roeland

@roelandp thanks for the mention! There are many options to help get you and others to the event so make sure to utilize them all!

thanks information @roelandp

I can understand your urge to go and meet the members of the Steemit community. There will most likely be other meetings in future though.

What I would do in your situation, is try to farm and save as much money as possible and invest it. Don't spend any money on unnecessary things and invest everything you can. Be it either in Steem or anything else you might find useful.

Admittedly this is not short term solution, but not necessarily the longest possible route. Yes, you will most likely miss the meeting this year but if you work hard and spend your money wisely, you might have no problem in participating in the next one.

Heck, in two years you might not even have any trouble in participating in 5 meetings around the globe. Invest in your future so that you'll most likely have an easier and more enjoyable life later on <3

Yeah this is what I am doing at the moment investing in anything I found seemingly interesting into and hoping for the best.
thanks for your comment/advice I think you deserve a full upvote from me.

If I had your wallet I would power down to get the ticket .
I am on the verge of going. My worry is that I am already attending another event in London and Lisbon will probably deplete my cash reserves.
Hope that will close enough clients in the near future to have the money.
My experience is that these events are the best investment with huge ROI. Go for it ... :)

My steem power is something I build on for the future as I am a true believer of steemit. every time I power down no matter the amount I found my self regretting it. I know steem price in the next 3 years will look nothing like it does at the moment not even close. so I am waiting out for that time. :) welcome to steemit man. Have a nice stay here with us. I am following.

My argument is that you will get much greater value/ROI from actually meeting with the other steemians. But in the end it's your wallet your choice. :)
Nice to meet you . I am enjoying this part of the webs. See ya !!!

you are not wrong at all. thanks for your positive stance. :)

you're welcome . keep on husling !!!

great post.thanks for sharing.

i wish that you'll make it !!!

hope is what I have. I am putting some faith to it.

I would like to get my ass down there too so much, but as yourself i am locked in a similar situation. If i miss this one, i will be definitely saving up for the next steemfest as it would be so nice to meet you guys in real life and to hear those stories directly :) I hope you can make it, here is my 2 cents :)

Thansk for sharing.

The low wages in Greece is a big drama.
I wish two next months you can find the amount that you will allow to be there!
I feel you how much you want to be there!

Have you seen my Bunghole? My people; we are without Bungholes...
