I've only been a member for less than an hour and maybe what I'm saying here completely misses the point but there are a couple of things I noticed immediately:
When posting my first article, I had a hard time figuring out which tags to use. Maybe I missed something on the page but if I did then it means that it wasn't obvious. A list of popular categories on the 'post article' page would be great.
My feed is a jumble of articles. I am not interested in most of them to be honest. Having to sort through them to find something I am interested in is a hassle I don't want to go through. Some kind of filter would be nice. Could be based on tags for example.
I know this is a beta and therefor I'll stick with it. And the user experience will need to be streamlined.
Maybe people could recommend authors to each other so that new authors who write good content can get noticed. Maybe a filter on 'good authors' could be created alongside the tag filters. This has to take into account the fact that new authors don't have a reputation yet. It's probably also going to be a personal thing. You might love an author's work while it's completely useless to me.
These are just some musings. Always happy to dig in deeper if so desired.
