Let Me Teach You Another Thing Or 2 About That "Simple Steemit Post Of Yours". (Untold Stuff)!!!steemCreated with Sketch.

Let me teach you another thing or two about that "simple steemit post of yours"

What are other triggers, that can help your post earn more?

After all the effort you put into creating these posts, you want to earn something. In some cases and for many people, "earning" doesn't always have to be financial!

You may also want a level of interaction, friendship, new connections etc

You may at least want steemians to come around and create further beauty, in the comments of your posts etc

Some posts were designed from the very onset to "impart" and "earning" in this case, could be; "in the knowledge that you have imparted others!" You may relish that your audience acknowledge this, by means of their heartfelt comments, a resteem and in some cases, full-blown posts triggered by means of your own post etc

But did you know that on the flip side, all these seemingly-looking side-actions, can also very easily turn into financial rewards?

Yes, even that tiny upvote from redfishes, minnows, or not-very-powerful bots, that you may frown at for not having impact; all work together and can trigger a huge earning!

At the end of this post, i will help you imagine how all these things work but first, here is a little background:

Little Background

I have been here long enough and i am not talking "duration".

Some people can see and perceive things more quickly than others, not because they are better at "seeing" but perhaps because, they are "looking" more intently.

Most of the things i learned about steemit were not from the whitepaper. I did ask many questions but again, "it is about composing and posing just the right question"; which in itself is a special skill.

Over time, growing up; i developed my path even when it comes to understanding things. Even in very simple conversations, like those that we have in the discord DMs etc, my art of conversation is very unconventional.

Yes, i may get to the destination of our conversation, in a very short span of time, not only because of my understanding of life and humans but also because of my method of processing information.

I look more for underlying concepts and try to understand that.

I understood steemit really quickly, from the actual process of "steeming on" itself. For instance "bots"; it didn't take me time to know that they existed and upon knowing they existed; it didn't take me time to understand how curation (in all its dimensions) worked.

While many minnows like me, where busier figuring out why there should be bots in the first place; i was already looking at how bots worked, in relation to curation.

I do like to sift the good from the "not-so-good" especially when it comes to humans, but this applies even when i am dealing with life, issues and situation. So i was fast in pin-pointing that even though bots did some votes, there were always human parameters involved. I will pause here on the "bot issue".

I painted the above picture, so that you can grasp the later part of this post better!

Too, it didn't take me time to understand "steemit posts" and how they worked in relation to earning etc.

In the earlier days of steemit, there was a "4 post" daily limit, which i tried to exhaust at the time as i felt obligated to maximize possibilities, but after a period, "simple logic" in relation to the curation knowledge i had started to accrue, made me start to reduce my number of daily posts.

Many of the rules from the past, related to bots & post limitations, have changed due to several hardforks, but the principles still remain!

It got to a point in my earlier days on steemit, where even solely based on intuition, i could tell if a post would earn.

Overall, steem was as low as 7 cents at the time, so we valued every cent. Yes, we valued every comment, resteem and even every redfish vote.

Note: There weren't bot initiatives like minnowbots, boosters, upgoat, randowhale etc not even many discord servers!

Back To Today

My point is: whatever the case; whatever the hardfork; however, the number of bots; the principles are same:

We are in a community of reputable great minds; steemians; humans!
If we focus on the "human"; then every upvote, resteem, comment counts and when you expand your horizon just a bit, perhaps even the bots, spam comments etc count too because "humans" were involved!

Let's Play A Bit

Note: Even in my play, there is an element of "serious". Read between the lines. Apply principles as you read my stuff. Understand the underlying concepts. Forget the theory.

It is a known fact that not everyone may vote on posts manually. Some may have an list of who they auto-vote for, especially the busy ones and some may vote for valuable content using a bot or auto-vote service like curie, steemvoter or steemian based on his or her parameters.

Yes, some may code their own voter and add 120 parameters to it, so that this bot votes based on the preferences of the human etc

Now look at this scenario:

Your post has earned 0.57 cents and has had 200 upvotes and it frustrates you; and to add to your frustration, a comment from @arcange arrives, congratulating you for having had 50 comments to your post!

You still feel frustrated but you decide to take a nap! However, the next time, you look at your post, you see that it has got a 100 dollar earning on it and you wonder in bewilderment; "how could this have happened?"

Let's imagine!

"What if a certain whale decides to use engagement as one of the parameters for his auto-voting and decides, 'let me measure engagement, using @arcange's comment on a post as a trigger'!"

You see; moments ago, you weren't very happy, even though you were amassing 50 comments on your post because your earning said "0.57 cents".

Now did anybody ever tell me, that a scenario like the above exists? The simple answer is "NO".

But does it matter?

Hahaha, you have to present yourself every time, for you know not where opportunity lies. @surpassinggoogle

In the Philippines for instance, people ask me, why i am fully dressed, when i am just going to a store in the next street.

Well, where i am from, if i had the means; i dress gucci everytime because, i may need to sweep someone off their feet anytime, anyplace & vice versa!

I will leave you with just one scenario, to help you build on the ability to 'understand underlying concepts', when you read complex things, like whitepapers, steemit posts etc or even during the art of conversation!

Note: even with manual votes, there can be many parameters involved e.g i may have seen your post the first time and it may have been top-notch content but hahaha, "top-notch" isn't the only parameter for me because in reality anybody can create "top notch content", so i may let it slide; only to vote for it at a later time, because i saw it again, resteemed by maybe someone i know, or someone i like, or someone i look up to, or a redfish or a minnow.

Hahaha, statuses matter not to me, the human does!

I seem to speak for myself, but the logic & principle sticks; we are in a reputable community of great minds; steemians; HUMANS!

So here......

I do value every tiny upvote because, with steemit; "its an ecosystem" and every tiny thing can be a trigger! Yes, even though, you don't earn a dollar from the myriads of redfish upvotes, these votes still aid visibility (relevance algorithm). Did you know?

And you never know, who is following or copying the vote of that redfish!

The truth is anything on steemit can be a trigger, so value everything

Yes, sometimes even that tiny-looking resteem from a minnow, can be what triggered that a whale upvote

For instance, i vote on some posts, simply by visiting the resteems of a minnow or redfish account
Also remember this; many votes that happened on the outside (steemit.com) may have happened because some good Samaritan on the inside, has vouched for you; so it may not be your top-notch content afterall.

The thing is, you never know what the trigger would be, so why not present yourself.

Yes, some people may use "number of words" contained in a post as an additional parameter for their auto-votes, so why not "go big" when you post and "present yourself".

@curie may come around or someone who submits undervalued posts to @curie may come around, so why not "go big" and present yourself to these opportunities by means of your posts.

A whale may decide; "let me visit #philippines today, since i am off from work". When he arrives, will your posts be hotcake and ready?

Presence is key! Read this post by @tegoshei

Plus, your posts say alot about you! In my case, i am very gifted in that regarded, that i may get to know you perhaps, even more than you know yourself, just by reading your posts.

People ask me how that is and the answer is quite simple:

The state of your heart, the extent of your substance, are in the tiny excerpts of you that you weren't paying rapt attention to.

So if i was your boyfriend for instance, and i was aiming at reaching your heart; i won't be asking you: "do you fart loud?" hahaha, that is a very frontal, obvious question and you will be fully prepared before you answer!

My Curation Efforts

You will notice that i vote on the comment section alot and one of the reasons i do this, is in the whole story just above!

Ofcourse, ultimately, i do this type of comment-voting to promote unity, engagement, community etc but i also do it to teach! Yes, i want to teach even in my small way to value even the tiniest gifts.

Value that these are the best times on steemit & and stick around!

#philippines is really improving in the comment section and it is a joy to watch! I talk #philippines but reading between the lines and you will see that my posts and all of them, have an underlying general message for every human and ofcourse every steemian. Too, overall, what i try to speak of, is life and love.

"Life & Love applies everywhere, "steemit and beyond" and this is my gift to you, for now!

Good Day! @surpassinggoogle or Terry, wow another great post i can feel your feelings and emotions in this, actually I am not into reading long post but whenever i read your blogs i didnt realize that i already finished reading because it looks like im really talking with someone.

This post reminds me that it is important to build friendship, that it is better to give than to receive it reminded me to be a human being to help other minnows like me to build strong relationship then rewards will follow.

I admit that when the first time I came here on steemit earning money or rewards is what i want not reading if the post quality or not. Just thinking what post to make me earn more money disregarding communication but as time past by i started chatting with others not realizing i have many friends met in this community. I really like steemit because it is not toxic almost everyone is supporting you unlike other social media even though you pout your heart into your post they will bash you. Steemit community builds up my confidence, i think comments means alot to me more than upvotes because they will stay longer in my mind and remember the people that compliment and give some of their time just to remind you that your post is not just a waste of their time.

By the way it is my first month here on steemit on this very day :)But anyway i just want to thank you for your support here especially on the philippine community. If not for your helpful post i still chasing for rewards than building good relationships. I hope and pray that youll be more successful and will never change and stay just the way you are.

Awesomeness. I am glad you grasp the part involving my feelings and talking to people because that is indeed what i am doing

yeah it was like wow! what is this? i actually read this post twice because it was really good. I read it already yesterday but i forgot to comment then reread it now it was like rewatching my favorite anime episode you know what i mean. It was very heartfelt post, now im always waiting for your latest post haha

Read my last post as well

YOU GOT US TERRY

I did read it @surpassinggoogle you know sir you got us Filipinos, actually i feel you because sometimes we look really good outside but deep inside we are hurt. Encouraging words helps alot but PRAYERS changes situation. I can feel you man, you are now in my prayers.

Later Im going to make an open letter to the people who help me here on steemit specially for you sir, the very first person to help me here as Im celebrating my 1st month here because I started last August 22. nice picture...

Hey Terry, as always It bring lots of great things to ponder upon reading each and every one of your posts.

At first I must agree I went in on Steemit to earn cryptocurrency which I was hooked on, that was just my goal at the start of it all. As my steemit journey unfolded I learned a lot of things about this platform. It is not just about earnings. I realized that it offers more better than earning. First is learning, you can learn many things in every aspect there are tags to categorize this posts. By going on steemit everyday I learn something new everyday.

Next is the community, Steemit is really a great community even though there are many aspects that other people dont like about it. As you said sift the good from the bad that says it all. For me Steemit is perfect having connections, interactions, and knowing many people who have the same and different beliefs with you. Steemit really is an empowering platform.

Lastly Steemit is a way to share your talents to the world, helping others, especially sharing who you are, and a platform to express yourself.

Reading this post once again, made me think about steemit in different possible ways and perspectives. As always Thank you for your efforts, support, and inspiration for the steemit community keep up the great work you are doing. I continue to include you and your family in my prayers. God Bless and stay strong.

Thank you alot. You have a great attitude. So you will see things clearly fast. Thank you for visiting. Talk soonest. Thank you for prayers. Prayers work

This is not just an eye opener to all steemians out there but also a heart opener! I think it's the same in real life outside steemit. We really need to value small things because the smalls things are the ones which have greater value. Also, we should do things from the heart. Passion and compassion are very important. From the very beginning, my passion and love for blogging led me here. And it comes along that I'm able to help other people out there to pursue their passions while earning at the same time. I never encourage them to post for earnings but to post for they love what they do. I am just so blessed to be part of this community. I am able to discover myself little by little. I am able to meet wonderful people. Strangers being forged into friendships. The gift of friendship from the community is what really matters. Your posts gave me goosebumps from head to toe. I don't really know much about you just heard from tenured steemians but I salute you for your kindness and love for the Filipino community. Hope to interact with you more soon. :)

On point!

Thank you. @surpassinggoogle that simple comment of yours means a lot to me :)

Yes! CHAMP THE PAIN.....i'm glad to have understood in the first place that steemit is a social media so i came to meet and make new friends. All the earnings i so desire is to meet more wonderful people. These people are ever ready to lead you to greatness. Glad our prayers are reaching the Almighty. You will get stronger and stronger.

Yep switie

Hi @ surpassinggoogle wow what a post this is indeed because it has really touch me by letting me understand that my post represent my being as a person since Steemit Blockchain Network is a community of great human beings with great minds who are in a position to produce good content, also the importance of producing content that will impact other Steemians lives to greater heights rather than just wanting to earn from them hence Steemit is a place of creating relationships that will bond us together as Steemians and as a result of this we should value every single support from other fellow Steemians,Iastly you are a true inspiration mr Terry on this Blockchain Network and that is the reason i can't bypass without commenting on your post because it leaves me with a new idea on how to grow here on Steemit, yuo are such a blessing @surpassingGoogle especially to me as an individual thank you sir for your post and keep on posting great inspirational post like this one.

You grasped fully

Really great post thank you for your inspiration and content. You are indeed very observant

Very simple comment but on point and very technical

I really enjoyed reading this post, @surpassinggoogle. Lovely to see someone blowing their own "steemhorn" in such a constructive way. Throw a stone in a still pond and it will make ripples. You know you threw the stone. You can see how most of the ripples propagate. You can't see the impact that the ripples have on others in their path, or for that matter the impact the stone might have had on whatever was in the water underneath it! Maybe it stopped a big fish from eating a smaller fish. 😊😊

Sweetness. Exactly how life works

😊😊

One of my posts this week has $3.16 in payout, 47 upvotes and 82 comments. Since the average post has only 3 comments, I feel proud of my result. I hope you don't mind if I link it in case you have minnows on this post.

https://steemit.com/money/@fitinfun/make-money-blogging-on-steemit-top-tips-and-checklist-for-better-results

I can feel happy with that result since the post is to help minnows. I have been promoting it non-stop to minnows everywhere. I give about 15 tips to help new people make more financial reward when they first get here and I'm really proud of it.

I think in the future I will try not to make such a big post though. But I wanted to make this as comprehensive as I could.

But it certainly is daunting here. I make much more from commenting than I do from posting. So I only post a few times a week and comment at least 50 times a day. Such an interesting ride here at steemit.

Yes, it is an interesting ride but i tell you, you are so on the right track already! You can also feel free here when it comes to links etc time will come when your posts will earn but it is indeed a ride, so it is one to be explored and enjoyed

Thank you so much for the upvotes and your support! You have no idea how much this means to me. I think you are my steemit guardian angel :)

Farmers flowers framed.PNG

imagesdg.jpg

Yes, I'm sure of your words and I'm on the right track too. Thank you for your support and God bless you @surpassinggoogle!

I am! I do really like it here and see a lot of possibilities :)

I was measuring success here initially with the dollar amount each post makes. This was the orientation at work, and the most logical way to measure for someone who does not know much about the community is the monetary reward. This is powerful in a way that this talks about something that you would have only learned by experience. This will save a lot of newbies pain and frustration of having to go through the ups and downs. I mean the ride will most probably be with the same ups and downs, but less the frustration; thus becomes more enjoyable.

Reward here comes in many forms alright. I had a post that earned $0.07 recently, that same post was translated to Chinese by @ ygern and made over $200. I had a post that got acknowledged by @steemiteducation, while it did not make a lot in terms monetary reward; the acknowledgement is reward in itself.

I still think I have a lot to learn, and because of that I read posts from people like you. I also recently came across @natureofbeing who likes sharing deeper insights on steemit and life in general more than just the how-to. You always talk about the "underlying concepts" and to be honest I don't always get it. I think I am getting it more frequently than not compared to when I was just starting to read your works. It is the same as my journey in steemit. I came here feeling confident (almost arrogant) taking into account what I have achieved in other aspects of life. It is when I started acknowledging that I don't know anything about this, when I started really taking interest in how this works, and then exploring the underlying concepts; this journey became all the more enjoyable. And while I am still not earning lots in $, I am earning way better engagement, and I know the $ will follow.

You are grasping. Start to look at steem as well.

sir steem price is down these days 😢

"Do you fart loud ?"HahahahaLoL.png

Sorry, it's not the ultimate thing I will keep from your post but I had to thank you for this laugh also ^_^
And thanks for this post that is precisely what I needed to read, it reminds me to never underestimate the Universe and to not overthink the way it will gift you for the cheerfulness and the good vibes, it can comes from anywhere and from nowhere ;-)
Have a wonderful evening @surpassinggoogle ,Terry
romeo fleur.png

I have a new post. You know i wont forget your account. I did judge for a #steemgig you participated in.

Sometimes, we just enjoy the interaction so much that we forgot about the upvotes... then we just surprise ourselves... Wow! How did this happen? ^^ I love reading comments... especially when I post something that really interests me and someone shares the same interest... I become twice as talkative... hihi^^

Thanks for featuring my post in this sir Terry... ^^
I hope every Steemian makes their Presence known and value it.. ^^

Smile!! Have a lovely day!

Yes. I see you threads

Thanks a lot, sir Terry! :)

Such is life @surpassinggoogle the small things that you may think lead to nothing can have a cascading effect down the line to add up to something major. That is why I always treat others with as I would want to be treated and look at each moment and stay connected actively to it. I am always respectful and kind hearted, and give what I can, when I can. Your post Terry was awesome!! You are truly an inspiration to many including me. I wish you were in Vancouver cause I think we would definitely be friends. Also I fully appreciate every upvote you give this red herring here. I definitively will be paying it forward when I actually have a vote worth alot. I have a new perspective my friend, and please keep posting. btw Check this out, Prayer I would love to hear what you think of my direction I am moving in. It is a post. :) God bless you!!

I hope you are well. I always learn new thoughts from you. Stay awesome, dear!

I hope so switie. I will give you some feedback real soon. Hahaha stay awesome

I am happy to have find this post at this time of the day. It is a great message to read. I really got more insights to the human parameters in bot. You really said it all. There is a common bot around that votes only comments. Sometimes it votes my comments, sometimes it doesnt. At a point i thought the bot maybe programmed by word counts. This is just confirmed by your post. In the recent times too, i have seen the parameter in which a particular whale(name withheld) visits post based on countries or communities. I have really learnt about this and I am happy you are re-ascertaining my thoughts. My question is

@curie may come around or someone who submits undervalued posts to @curie may come around, so why not "go big" and present yourself to these opportunities by means of your posts.

What would you suggest one to do when one "go big" and then nothing motivating happens, "fewer comments and upvote"?

Thanks for your response @surpassinggoogle.

Go big again. Not choice. It has never been about us. It is more about legacies, leaving potential for opportunities etc. There are many reasons to post. You can be your own audience and marvel at your creation. There is a search engine upon which you rank too, so there is an audience of humans out there. And the potential is left out there in existence. Recently, some dug out my first series of post cos he started reading my recent posts and became really interested about me. If he has opportunities he is looking to give out, my first post may have been the trigger for him concluding on knocking on my door. There is a reputation model to steemit, for large opportunities, people will visit, those parts of you upon which you aren't very conscious to try to discern you. Like i said "be whale", if you are whale you would be looking to give out your own attention. There is a ton you can do with a post. You can play out ideas, till you bring them to life. e.g
https://steemit.com/steemit/@surpassinggoogle/how-i-eventually-secured-a-patent-for-2-of-my-sport-related-inventions-using-steem-technology

What you do, or how you do, do it with your heart,.. it will always result in"good things happens "
Appreciate the smmall things, big things will be a result .

Most definitely

Striving to leave legacies is nothing but an attainable achievement. Yes, there are a lot of reasons to post. I like the part of " be your own audience" . This alone is a motivation to do bigger things.

some dug out my first series of post cos he started reading my recent posts and became really interested about me

This is a great wisdom.

There is a reputation model to steemit, for large opportunities, people will visit, those parts of you upon which you aren't very conscious to try to discern you

Consciousness right from start. This is something I need to be aware of.
Steemit is a level plain field to play out ideas. Thank you for the link.
Your post has always added to me. Thank you @surpassinggoogle.

I clicked on the link and found great potential for myself! Thank you @surpassinggoogle

Great to see you back at posting again @surpassinggoogle! It's really nice to read your posts- I learn a lot from them.
As for me, I keep my posts as personal as they can be. Write from the heart, I would say...

Interaction is and has been key, here. Be visible all the time. Who knows who will see you next?! 😉

Quoting your quote:

A whale may decide; "let me visit #philippines today, since i am off from work". When he arrives, will your posts be hotcake and ready?

I hope I am.
Cheers,
@arrliinn

I’ve always been a big fan of comment engaged is something I enjoy more than making blogs.

Part of that , that some people over look is curtailing your own comment sections.

With how busy some people are and others spamming it can get hard to find or even want read someone’s comment sections. Which is where I think the real fun happens on this site!

I hope more have the take away from reading your blog that they should as well put some effort into curtailing their own comment sections when they see a worthy comment. It helps add another layer of enjoyment and even possible engagement into someone’s blog.

Congratulations @surpassinggoogle
MinnowsPower listed your post "Let Me Teach You Another Thing Or 2 About That "Simple Steemit Post Of Yours". (Untold Stuff)!!!" as one of the top 10 upvoted and commented posts of the day...!!!
Yes, you just shared untold stuff. Most of top Steemians won't share it. Excellent writing and exceptional article.

One small UpVote of Yours build MinnowsPower and MinnowsPower will Not Forget Your Support...!!!

Readed this blog two times, and my conclusion is almost as simple as life; appreciate the small things and bigger things will be the result. Giving is taking.
Sure it will open eyes for many, Thanks for sharing this wise lesson. We are never to Old to learn!

Awesomeness. "Life"; yes!

What could it be good for everyone when we all have the same, the same goal, the same target, the same effort, the same power, the same steem, but it isn't ,...

in paradise

I think you are right again, AMEN.

Wow, a lot of teaching going on here in the bar! Where is my beer? 😜

I loved the Einstein's quote about logic & imagination here.

Since you understand curation well, would you help me with one question?

I don't understand the reverse bidding system of first 30 minutes. And why it was put in place? Umm..., this was the side question. Here comes the primary query:

Content discovery is rewarded to curators. But does it carry no value if I discover that content in first 10 minutes? So what should be the right time to upvote a content. Which one is better, if I upvote a potentially trending post at 30th minute when it has already got 100 upvotes of say $100 value in total or when I upvote at 11th minute when there were only 10 upvotes totaling 10 dollars?

Your input will be highly appreciated. Many thanks!

30 minutes was put to control bot votes a bit. If you are going for curation rewards. early and few votes is better. i dont regard timing much cos currently i keen on building community. Some people follow votes too of established curators. Some like the 30 minute mark too or just after it.

you use bot sir?

Read my last post. I am very much human

This post is very motivational. Although I have not put as much focus on my own writing as much as I take part in collecting (resteeming) great material..you have encourage me greatly to inspire others. This is a perfect article to share with others who I meet from day to day and sharing how magnificent this platform is. I'm sure many of my friends from #circleoffriends would appreciate this as well. Job done superb!

Awesome comment. Every tiny thing you do works as well. even when you don't write, you still inspire with those tiny things. so keep those up.

Your comment makes me think of the grand tale when one is able to have the Faith of the size of a mustard seed, all the grandest things that are able to follow..thank you

Grand Biblical true tale

A lot of truth in this post. You have to be out there to be appreciated. Success won't come to a person who is not doing anything at all to get noticed.

I create blog posts as well comment regularly. None of my posts are a few lines or just an image. All of them are well-formatted and extensive in content.

Opportunity may not knock twice but I keep knocking on opportunity - I think that is the best way to put it. So if someone feels that he/she is finding it difficult to succeed here, just keep knocking! New colloquialism, if you could call it that!

Now a few lines about the grey side of Steemit. There needs to be more awareness among those who hold more power by way of votes, to ensure that they don't vote on content that may not befit a high-quality feed so that when outsiders visit Steemit they are not appalled by the contents of the feed.

I do not say this, just google Steemit reviews and you'll see what I mean. The quest for Quality needs to start from the top.

If you don't give your valuable vote to low quality content, the creator of that content will better spend more time on creating better content -or learn it from those who do.

Thanks for coming back strong bro Terry as this quote says here.

A setback is a setup for a comeback.

Sorry for all that happened in this last week.We are happy you are back Stronger with this post.

You have written a good analysis here of ho Steemit works and how we can earn and all the different factors involved.

I personally did not like the idea of having bots here, but since i have read this article,i now see how they simplify work for some busy authors.

I like the point you say of us presenting ourselves

The thing is, you never know what the trigger would be, so why not present yourself.

My recent post has 40 upvotes(guess some are bots!) and it only has $1.07! But i do now understand the dynamics well.

Thanks for always manually participating the comments section,it has helped you to get connected to many people.

Ofcourse, ultimately, i do this type of comment-voting to promote unity, engagement, community etc but i also do it to teach! Yes, i want to teach even in my small way to value even the tiniest gifts.

I have come to know you like i have ever met you,all this is because of the engagement we have in the comments.

Situation is same but i am here. It is tough but its all good, let's go!

All will be well.

I know it seems hard sometimes but remember one thing. Through every dark night, there's a bright day after that. So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep ya head up.... and handle it. -Tupac Shakur

Hahah... Yeah Just keep Steeming and waking up :) 😆

Well you have said almost everything I'd want to hear about how a post can turn into something so valuable except on thing. Doesn't upvoting your own blog post turn curators away?

I'm new to these parts, so my opinion isn't an educated one, but I would hope it wouldn't turn off a curator to upvote one's own post.

Why post anything that you yourself wouldn't Upvote or even Resteem, depending on the level of quality vs quantity you're going for? If you believe in your value, there's nothing wrong with believing in yourself & tooting your own horn, despite what we've been taught... But make it worth it, if it's curators you're trying to attract.

From what I've been able to ascertain from my attempts to assimilate with this cultures, it's acceptable to Upvote your own content, though there seems to be a varying & subtle advanced & nuanced art to it.

If you're wisdom is called in & you are put to work, especially by the author, it seems to be socially acceptable to Upvote ones own comment, you were volunteered to work after all.

It seems to be tacky though to upvote one's own comment & assume a share especially before the author themselves chime in, although again there seems to be subtle variations based on choosing to do work for others.

The big no no seems to be self-upvoting value-less comments & not even giving a courtesy reach around upvote to the author, as seen in the recent "me too" that was evaluated at $60.

Anyways, I could be totally wrong but it's what I've picked up trying to figure this lovely complicated eco-system out. :P

But most curators are dying for a good read, so why not toss yourself an Upvote if you believe in the value of your words? If believing in myself turns someone off, then they aren't who I wanted to attract anyways, you know?

(Omg, too many words)

I do believe I have a solid grasp now. Thank you for your time that it took to type all that and for the amount of information!

If you're one of those like I am that talks through the typing process, I'm sure you had to feel like you were giving a speech. Ha! Great feedback though, seriously. Thanka again.

You grasp! There is more to it but this is sufficient. You will move very fast

Nothing wrong with upvoting your post. Among other things, it helps with visibility. As for turning curators, well it depends on the curator. Different curators have different intentions and non is wrong in reality. Some curators can go after curation rewards and some can go for quality, while some go for friends or look up to others and imitate. Bottomline is, you can please every curators, so that is where your own preferences come into play. upvoting your post used to be default, i dont know if that is still the case. Nothing wrong with upvoting your comments either but like the comment below, it depends on you as you can determine the quality of your work same as you would do with others. you may also want your comment to seat on the top of a thread for various reasons, thus, you may upvote your comment. Overall, non of these things can be called wrong. when you upvote your posts, it is usually the very onset, so i dont see that affect curators looking to make more rewards as they like to vote at around the 30 min mark. again it depends on ht curator. Some curators may also have a soft spot for powered up posts as they feel that adds to the steem economy etc

But bots like @gentlebot specifically states that she won't upvote self-upvoted comments! Why such a hatred for self-upvotes and yet considered gentle?

You dont have to be bothered about that. it is a community, different people decide their own preferences.

I felt the same as you and tested it out on my first couple posts (learning by watching the effects). I then read a post from someone who apparently felt the opposite was true. Since upvoting your own post used to be default, you'd think it would more widely accepted. Thank you for your help as well.

Yes, freedom is important! Upvoting your post is widely accepted but its a community, thus, people will have varying views. That aside, nothing wrong in upvoting your own post. That decision is yours to make. Losing your freedom however, will make your journey less fun. It's a post, yours or anothers, it is a post

I agree with you, only the feeling of freedom will give us a theme and meaning in our messages, especially will give the strength to promote it. Thank you @surpassinggoogle

You're doing exceptionally well... Yes i do appreciate the upvotes of Redfish and minnows.. A thousand redfish vote can give you what you want, even if it doesn't sum up something substantial, but they did it with love, so its good we appreciate them.

Thanks for sharing , teacher Terry!😊

Yes switie

I have even learnt not to worry myself. I have seen my post gain attention form @infovore at the last minute. I will do my best and leave the rest

You have wonderful points sir!

One needs to see steemit from another angle and appreciate all the upvotes and comments. I look forward to the day my posts will generate more engagemens.

Every votes matter to me. And i will consider all you wrote about the parameters whales might use to upvote redfishes posts.

Thanks for your advise once again.

Awesome

sorry i have taken your photo and edited, i have made an article about my photo edit. I'm glad if you want to see it. https://steemit.com/art/@jaldesign/art-4-double-exposure-and-face-logo-transforms-edit-surpassinggoogle-2017925t15351597z

you know i am so overwhelmed right now.. so this is your third post i am reading and i cant seem to stop myself... the beauty of the words, the presentation, the simplicity, the intention and i keep going wow...being a writer myself i value your posts all the more... well to the post itself you basically just touched my concern, so i just saw a post of mine with close to 40 upvotes and i was seeing 13 cents!! and i keep going "how is this even possible?" well i think i have gotten a point where i just try to live each moment so i dont get too depressed like i often am but this post has made me feel a world better because somehow i am certain that i am doing something to inform people, to educate them, to impact like you said.... so Terry it is nice knowing you through your posts... awesome human

Awesome human, don't stop yourself.

Entertain freedom when you visit for kosi wahala

loooool.... did you just try to speak yoruba?

Just to tell you i know naija more than you do

wow!!! apparently you cant know naija more than i do, i was born and bred there

Hahaha funny. You just mentioned why you can hardly fully know Nigeria.

I know you mean the exact opposite.... Of course that's why I know the country ....how do you happen to know much about the country

Hahaha, you are just stubborn. Read my posts well and you will decipher stuff or maybe we will chat soon and you will see, that i know you more than you know yourself even. It is about how much you can see. People sit on gold forever and look for gold in every other place. The seeers go directly to the spot and dig. tolarnee, how would i know that to be tolani, if i was that novice. If you read any of my posts, the undertone, speaks to Nigerians and many many Nigerian steemians know. Read the undertones

i never let frustration frustrate me even though its hard sometime i got to be chill thanks for your post and telling about these all the updates :)

Greatness

your post are very interesting especially for me who is still a beginner and i have to learn more from you..

My pleasure

Wow! Another great post. Every organism in the ecosystem is important.Thank you.

You are welcome. My recent post teaches more

Yes. This is so true @surpassinggoogle.
i am here to shape and develop my potentials. This is the reason also why i dreamed my Steemit Butterfly lately. Haha. I posted it sir. Pls check it if u have time.

Ho Terry! :) Thanks for teaching me something and making me think more about bots, posts, curation, why I am on steemit.. basically a mini steemfest in just one post! :P I really liked your response to why u get all dressed up, even just to go to the local store. u know it. might have to impress and show some strong game! :P

Hahaha you pick up the special points. Haven't seen your wife for sometime now

haha.. i'm just around.. just haven't been posting though. busy with the kids and life in general.

Great. We shouldn't forget life

Yes it is. Because if you put efforts together with love the outcomes are even more then aimed ones! 😊

Like everything in life - you appreciate it if you worked for it. Thanks for your perspective and motivation!

You are welcome

Communication with your readers and commenters seems key in alot of posts. Sometimes i comment and i don't seem to get a answer on the question. I do get a upvote but that aint a answer. Next time i might be reading but not commenting.

You mean here? Sometimes, i miss out on some comments, not necessarily on purpose. i am currently in terrible state, so i have been a bit speechless lately

No not here, here i get a comment or a tnx almost always.

i too always try to value the valuable people like you they mean very much to me as they bring the best out of me and help me every time :)

Q u a l i t y post, quality,kwalietie. That is what counts

Great work @surpassinggoogle

very interessing post my friend @surpassinggoogle thank you for thos great support:)

Wow am happy to have come across this post.it has help me alot and have change ,and has change my mentality on how i view steemit network

Kosi walaha. See my last post as well, there is more.

Please teach me also

Wow... I'm new here and these tips has helped alo

I am glad about that

When we have fun, when we like what we do, when we do it with faith, when we do it for others, No matter what the votes will be; WE DID it , Just because its what we love to do !

Welcome and thanks

Interesting Post. Thanks @surpassinggoogle.

You are welcome

Getting so much votes without much vote values could really be frustrating indeed ... Like having 80+ votes with less than $3 on such posts ... But after reading this I will say I already learnt some real logics on how things works ...thank you @surpassinggoogle for this post, it really motivated someone down here

Awesome!

Well, I'm beginning to understand now about what your writing means. first I want to tell stories.
I joined in steemit because I saw a banner ad on google, and it provoked my ambition. because in the ads show that with steemit earn money very easy.
And after I joined, it was not as easy as I imagined. I have to follow process by process to get what I imagine. Not an instant way to earn money. if talking about steemit, it means about a process in the community, like we live socializing in a housing complex.
the thing that I experienced is indeed very related to your writing material. steemit is about the process of socializing.
I finally forgot my ambition that my expessibility that I will get money from steemit and I will use the money from steemit to pay college bills. in a day not necessarily 1 dollar, this is impossible if I want to pay college bills. but never mind, I believe god will give me the best way about my problem.

and lastly, I thank you. your writing has made me realize that I need to process in this steemit community

forgive me if i write too much in some comments

Awesome. You will eventually make money on steemit, there is no doubt. Just keep gathering steem

that is, you are the one who helps me, which is very influential to my opinion in steemit. it would be very nice to have plenty of steempower as well. people would be happy to be enthusiastic about what you have. not like me with only a few steam power and no capital to add to it.

You can still have impact with your posts and building connections.

i agree, your writing is very inspiring to me. thanks a lot

Another learning I have ganed today from reading this. Truth is I didn't know about this "trigger" hahaha tnx to you @surpassinggoogle all I do know is I reply to every comment I saw and I leave comment to those post I have read and for some of it. I still don't realized something will has to triggered for another thing :). Tnx for letting us know about doing what we could to be noticed and be great creating good content. God bless.

I always love your fresh, honest, insightful and forever positive perspective @surpassinggoogle, thank you!

I had no idea your life was so difficult, this certainly makes your buoyant attitude even more impressive!

My life has been this way since 13 or so. My story will be told hopefully next year and this story can fix lives. Thank you for being here

I look forward to reading your story, I'm curious why you are waiting? are you writing a book?

I am actually waiting for testimonies. Cos i want even my saddest stories to teach and fix lives. I posted. Too, words aren't any longer enough, so i get very speechless. I just posted too

Another amazing one from you.

The part you mentioned @arcange got me laughing seriously. It is funny when we have 0.20 cents and steemitboard suddenly shows to tell us we have achieved something and we are wondering what?

The things you wrote about parameters for whales voting redfishes says all about it and what redfishes should have in mind when writing.

Every cents for us counts still.

Thanks for this well loaded post with much energy to encourage every steemian out there.

Awesome. I do my dry humor, you give it life with your nice dentition

The best I've ever read for this week. Thanks Terry! I am not being a hypocrite or something for saying this but I really value every upvote that I receive in my posts. I've learned that from the last platform where I joined in. More over, I get so happy whenever there are people who come over my post and leave comments that can start conversations. I love it when they can relate or learn something from my post because my effort in writing long posts didn't go to waste.

Today I learned about something new - about how things work here in steemit. Thank you as always @surpassinggoogle! ❤

Glad. I am sure you like it too when they come there to say you are "ganda"

Hahaha! You got me there. 😂 I guess that counts as well. 😂But ofcourse I love it when they share their experiences too in relation to my post. That's when genuine interaction starts☺️

Okay pretty. Let's agree

"Yes, even though, you don't earn a dollar from the myriads of redfish upvotes, these votes still aid visibility (relevance algorithm)." Is this really true? As far as I know the only way your post goes up in the ranking lists, is by its Payout value.
Another great inspirational post (btw) :) I can relate to that mentality quickly changing when being at Steemit for a (little) while, seeing how things work. It's a strange, bumpy, but loveable road xD

Yes a level road. I get what you said is true but how i meant it is more as a trigger. A bit more visibility and it may spark a trigger or perhaps get seen by someone with a big vote. Even the comments add to visibility and these all together on somedays, present your post to a big voter

Your posts depicts Steemit’s interior to minnows. I always enjoy reading your posts @surpassinggoogle, I learn alot.

  • Talk soon.

All this info, i only used to give away in the chats cos there are info that people may never find out in reality. These days i am starting to give out underlyingly in posts and i have been doing that in many of my posts lately. Please read my last post

Ok sir. Doing that ASAP.

Wow! Aside from the fact that I was learning while reading, I must commend your write up is absolutely engaging.
I am a kinda new here, and when my friend @abeem90 told me about @surpassinggoogle and the contest, I actually thought surpassing google is a new application that wants to surpass Google, not until she said @surpassinggoogle is somebody like us who thinks ahead.
Just going through your timeline and impressed and inspired.
Thanks once for organizing the contest..

Hahaha thanks much. It is indeed an application but beyond that too. I am playing all out within my blogs as you will kind grasp from my contest post. However, the aim is to surpass google together, so i pace things. In due time an interface will be born. Stay awesome

You are welcome.
I can't wait for it to be unveiled..
Enjoy!

@surpassinggoogle mentor to mentors, teach her, teach me and teach all of us. Blessings.

@eurogee

Blessings bro!

Glad to see your posts like this again Sir, thank you very much for all the help that you give :-)

You are welcome

I've never known any teacher or mentor on improving personal effectiveness to generate such an overwhelmingly positive reaction.....This post captures beautifully , @surpassinggoogle has written a remarkable post about steemit human condition ,so elegantly written,so understanding of our embedded concerns , so useful for our community and personal live as a steemians and outside this community.

Most times ,i myself as a minnow always stand a point of observation. I will have to understand whats happening to my post. ,was it the tags i used? perhaps the time or the contents of my work. But now i am getting the facts of who inspired you and ones presentation .

"Hahaha, you have to present yourself everytime, for you know not where opportunities lies" @surpassinggoogle.

This words on " makes me to remember one of Yorubas adage says "People will place you exactly the way you present yourself to them".

Thank you sir ,you have always serves as a mentor i am learning from.

I still remain your little boy @bollutech

If you are whale, whales will look for you. Forget stats, i have been whale since minnow days. These are true lies. Plus, you are whale to me. So for you, it all starts there

You always touch me with your words,it doesn't only touch me, it makes me improve

I am glad about that

You are a whale to me too

Some nice information to improve our posts. I can learn alot from here.thanks for your precious advice @surpassinggoogle
Waiting for more wonderful posts

Thank you for the love @surpassinggoogle. Yes! every cent counts, and I give value to it even at 0.01 earning. Atleast, I catched the attention of the upvoter. For the effort itself, we need to be thankful, and being here on steemit is a Big time reward already.

Awesome!

Thankyou for the love @surpassinggoogle you never know how thankful I am. Youv'e done great things for us the Filipino community and now, another remarkable motivational and encouraging post you have shared. Thankyou! cause for now I learn how to value even a small thing comes to me.
Great post

Awesome

interaction is a key role here and without it i don't think nothing can go so nice and each small things matters even a little upvote matters sometime as it helps thanks for sharing this post :)

Yep

Excellent article, I really appreciate your efforts, because I see what you are doing for the community and how you are advancing your path. It helps, in particular me and such as I see the state of things and move on. Thank you @surpassinggoogle and I Upvote and resteem

wow buddy that was one of the best post looks like terry is back in action :D

Thank you. I am trying to be

My God, this is about one of the best works i have seen in steemit since i came here. The parameters of post engagement is something i dont do much, but you have actually created an insight on this.

Also on word count, i just recently made a decision not to go below 1000 words on any post. That way it gives me better leverage to explain better.
Posting much is another you explored, this work is awesome. Thanks for the share.

Awesome. You grasped

Very useful for everyone i will keep these points in my mind every time :) thanks for this valuable post

You are much welcome.

Thank you so much for sharing this one. This helps a lot. 😊

Thanks for stressing out that there is a redfish rank here in steemit
Resteeming this post and spread the good news and the best way to interact and unite philipines steemit users

Awesome

thank you for sharing this information @surpassinggoogle.. I've learn a lot.. upvoted your post..

glad

If we focus on the "human"; then every upvote, resteem, comment counts and when you expand your horizon just a bit, perhaps even the bots, spam comments etc count too because "humans" were involved!

I definitely loved this! Genius! <3
What a marvelous mind to impart such words @surpassinggoogle. Even bots have a human element in them. Atleast they don't make rude or rash comments or do flag others. Hehehe. :D
Really there is #hopeforhumans. I'm always enlightened by your words. Always be strong & keep the faith bro Terry, whatever circumstances you are undergoing right now, surely our Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. Remain to be a blessing to others, we are here for you bro. God bless!! :)

In Jesus' name amen

Amen bro. Always praise the Lord! :)
Drop by and check out my posts when you have the time. ^u^

Thanks @surpassinggoogle for thiw writeup

In this article you answered all my questions. Thank you for the useful information.

Hmmmmm
This is interesting
I will keep pouring out my heart in my blog and i know that someday,it will really pay off and sometimes i even appreciate a reply on my blog than an upvote cause it shows connection which is also important
Tanks for sharing this,i picked out a lot
Steem on!

Connection on steemit is one of the hugest rewards

I need more presence. I need to be hardworking starting from today. I guess I should fix my time table first. Many thanks sir Terry, this is very helpful for me :D

I am glad about that

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

really useful tips and suggestions @surpassinggoogle, well your articles are full of knowledge and information and it's a great help for all steemit community and especially for minnows who don't know how to start, i also gained great knowledge about the working of steemit after reading your knowledgeable posts, thanks a lot for sharing.

Exactly. Everything you need in reality is in there. I used to spend hours in the dms teaching these stuff and people do excel on steemit from these stuff

I completely agree, everything you can and should learn from you has, the main thing is to show patience and work. We all succeed, I believe! Thank you @surpassinggoogle

fantastic post @surpassinggoogle, well you describe the whole working of steemit in this post great, it's really a great help for us to create and craft a steemit post more accurately and also how we can improve our posts and all in all this is great article for all those authors who didn't know how actually steemit works, keep up your good work friend, thank you very much for sharing your great knowledge with us.

Awesome!

#surpassinggoogle your post is so much helpful for everyone especially to those who are newly here like me, i learned a lot of things because of your post and because of this i understand that steemit is not all about money making but it also about making good friends to others and how to appreciate the work of others.

Awesome

Kosi wahala. Stay blessed

Waoo
Thanks boss, I really appreciate your upvote sir God bless you sir. Am happy to know that you speak Yoruba. I will love to follow your legendary step sir.

My posts will guide you, especially the past ones

Your post made me reconsider my dislike of bots. 😎
Do you have a witness thread I can read, it seems to be necessary to know a bit more about witnesses I want to vote for.

For me, most of my posts are efforts of my witness: Perhaps, you can read this one:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@surpassinggoogle/steemgigs-witness-is-setting-up-budget-steemit-events-in-any-city-or-nation-by-virtue-of-the-power-of-the-steemgigs-community

For witness campaigns by other witnesses, you can visit #witness-category, however, not many witnesses leave updates using posts, but they have been here and doing great things.

This is very powerful motivational post of yours @surpassinggoogle. As newbie here in the community, I'm very thankful to have you in here. I wan inspire from you. Thank you for helping us Filipino community. And all newbie steemians around the world.

Pleasure is mine

1 or 2 things? i learned A LOT !! thanks for this so so informative post my friend <3

Glad

I am glad about that

You have always something to say terry! You never failed to inspire us. Keep going!

Okay

Nice article. Gives us a little insight about how the earning clockwork is done.

Exactly

Thanks again. Would be looking forward to ur next posting.

Great

HOLY CRAP THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!

Let's imagine!
"What if a certain whale decides to use engagement as one of the parameters for his auto-voting and decides, 'let me measure engagement, using @arcange's comment on a post as a trigger'!".

This made me understand!! This nagging question as to why, why is this happening, why all of a sudden, what did I do, what else can I do? REALLY?!??! My mind goes overtime thinking of the what ifs, but in the end I get distracted by the things in the moment and try not to focus on it. BUT THIS has helped answer a ton of little points, primarily the fact that there are unlimited numbers of metrics that can be used to determine voting so stop worrying and just keep being me.

On point.

Wow!!!! great post,,,,,,,, Thanks for sharing......../////////

great post, thanks for sharing

Nice post friend 👌. @surpassinggoogle . thanks for sharing

The great one, like this

Reading this post once again, made me think about steemit in different possible ways and perspectives. These people are ever ready to lead you to greatness. I really enjoyed reading this post, @surpassinggoogle

Yes this post was made specifically to open the eyes but only who read intently will grasp all the aspects fully. Thanks for returning

i am agree with @surpassinggoogle

you are right, there is a section here that is hard to understand for me. and maybe I'm also hard to explain it with words. I just feel lucky to get information about what you have written.

You will understand it upon a second read

Upvoted and resteemed!

I try your suggestion, try to come and see my article. where is less? @surpassinggoogle

The thing that stuck with me the most was this.

The truth is anything on steemit can be a trigger, so value everything!

Value small things. Because collectively, small things eventually lead to something bigger.

Most definitely

Priceless advices! Thanks a lot for helping new people here. I liked a lot your post cos it's very useful for me!

I am glad about that alot

😉😉

Actually you do not know how this post has inspired me. It is as if you wrote it just for me. Behind every upvote there is a human. Always one has to present themselves in posts. Posts say much about you. I feel you my friend. I never hesitated to make you my proxy

I do know.

Thank you alot for the proxy favor

That is just to show how grateful I am to you. Thank you very much.

Great post. Thanks for the advices!!!

are you a philippine corps

Helpful tips for steemers.. I gain a lot from this article..
Thank you @surpassinggoogle
Cheers!

I am glad about that

Great post your post is more informative post. Nice to read it. Thanks for sharing.
