Good day Steemians!
I've spent a great deal of time today surfing the steem website to find interesting information regarding crypto in hopes that I could learn something new and sure enough I found way more then I had bargained for. That's definitely not a bad thing.
As a newer user to the platform and crypto in general I have to be honest with myself and you guys, damn this stuff is confusing. I understand the block chain in the most simplest of terms. However if you were to try and talk to me about very specific things regarding code and whatever else I'm sure it would fly over my head. I hope that this doesn't always remain this way, I would love to understand more and somehow get involved in other altcoins like steem which by the way I absolutely love. Out of all my experiences on the internet so far this platform has to be one of the most innovated I've seen and that doesn't even begin to really explain how truly special the steem platform is.
So I'm not in the "inner circles" here, and I don't always understand exactly how the platform itself is evolving and how that might be good or bad for everyone who currently creates content on steem. I did notice one thing though that sort of been on my mind, actually a few things if I may add, those being the controversy around bots up-voting and the current spike in the value of SBD.
Forgive me if I talk loosely here, I don't want to give any wrong impressions or act like I know what I'm talking about because to be quite frank, I don't have a clue as to how most of this stuff works. Lets start off with the automated curation stuff since that is probably the easiest to chat about. The main question I think everyone is asking is, "Is it a good thing, or a bad thing?" Well I for one, am not really decided on this argument and I'll explain why. As a new user it's definitely very hard to get those big whales to notice you. I don't particularly expect them to either, we all have to earn our own success right? I love the platform for that reason, it feels great whenever you post something and you wake up the next morning with a nice sum of change to work with and more motivation to create content. I used to know what that feels like while being a YouTuber, but that enthusiasm over time feigned as the platform became more and more hostile towards creators. For this I'm so happy steemit exists, it's been awhile since I've felt like I could do what I enjoy without worrying about the time I put into the finish product and not seeing any results for it.
New users like myself will do anything I think to gain traction, does that mean we should all resort to spamming and begging for up-votes and likes? Heck no! But why is it necessarily a bad thing to do have your posts auto-curated? I've been struggling with this damn question for some time, and I have to admit that there are a lot times where I cant decide whether I should spend what little SBD I have to give my posts an extra boost. Now I can see situations where something like this could be a really bad thing. Specifically in cases where we might see posts that aren't quality content and are just spam posts with only one incentive, that being short monetary gain.
How do you guys feel about auto-curation, is it bad, is it good? I want to hear what you have to say!
Man this post is full of question... okay so what happens if everyone universally chooses that bots are bad and we shouldn't use them. What other tools and mechanism do new users looking to grow their blogs and brands have in order to continue to grow? Maybe this is just a lack of knowledge on my end on how the platform works. As far as I'm aware everything is heavily dependent on how votes are distributed. I guess I'm just used to the algorithm that is YouTube. There are clear methods for utilizing it and adapting to it, is steem the same? Big whales probably aren't spending eight hours a day looking for undervalued content. No they're spending all their resources and time to continue to grow and contribute to the platform and they should continue to do that. This I guess brings me to my last question then.
Why is SBD soaring in price?
Isn't SBD supposed to be pinned to the dollar? Okay so this is the part I'm really ignorant about, please forgive me. Can anyone here who knows more about crypto them me explain how this is possible? I also want to make it very clear that I'm not complaining at all. I think it's really awesome that we're experiencing a large increase in value for the SBD. I just wished I knew why or at least be able to predict these kinds of things for the future. The best part about this predicament is the massive amount of monetary success people are getting because of this and that I have to admit is pretty cool!
I came across a neat decentralized altcoin called STORJ. StorJ is a crypto currency that can be earned via a service that allows people to rent digital storage space on the cloud, but instead of it being magically stuck up in the air. The cloud is powered by individual users on a decentralized platform utilizing block chain technology. WOW that was a mouth full.
In other words you can rent digital storage out to users that want to use it and they pay you in the form of the STORJ currency. Pretty cool right? I thought so. Curious I decided to look further into it and it took me a few hours of initial setup which by the way was painless and easy to do. Thanks to a well put together guide you can read on their website and with the help of other community members. Don't ask me how it works you can read that here
If you guys want to check this out I'll link a link bellow. Apparently you can make money by renting storage. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll keep you guys updated on what happens at the end of the month. That's all I got for you guys today, hope you enjoyed this little update and I'll see you guys soon.
