A Visit to the Adopted Son turned to be An Unexpected Date

It's been a while since my husband and I had a decent date. Due to tight budget, we both chose to have coffee at home after the kids went to bed, of we both share a cup of coffee on the store outside my workplace before going home. We both got contented with what we had and we both enjoyed each other's presence without having to spend much.

But last month, my brother-in-law's nephew who got close to us, of whom we considered our adopted son, (more like a real family), asked us fro some help on acquiring a laptop which he could use for his Power point presentations at school and luckily, I had an old netbook, it was basically broken since its battery does not work already and had to be connected to direct current for use.

That old netbook, Acer aspire one was very old and laggy already but it could still be of use. It was from my sister who is a teacher and did not know how to take care of her gadget. She must have overloaded it with files and the screen went black. When she took it to a technician, she was advised to buy a new one than have it repaired because it only had a small difference in the expenses. She hearkened to the advice and bought a new one and gave the netbook to my sister for repair but she did not have time and money.

She did not only have one broken laptop of the same problem but there were two!

Now in my workplace, there was this co-worker of mine called Nixon and he was a great technician. I asked for his help but I brought the ROM of the other laptop and glad it started! So basically, the netbook was empty and when Kerl asked us for help, I reached for Winston, another co-worker and had him install Microsoft word, excel and power point software on the netbook.

When I had the netbook back, my husband and I immediately went to Kerl to give it to him but he was on duty and we had to wait for him to have his break so we could hand him the netbook.

It was rush hour and he was very busy in the kitchen grilling patty for burgers and to buy time, my husband bought us snacks and we had and unexpected date that night! To remember and make it special, we took a selfie and hoping soon we could take our kids with us here.

Finally he was able to go out and I saw in his eyes the excitement and genuine happiness of having us there. It's been a while since he was not able to come home and I know he misses his parents so much and I am just glad that my husband is very willing to help him in finances and support, even in encouragement to finish his studies when he think he could not make it.

Kerl took a part time job on a fast food chain and it helped him on his finances. He does it on his vacant schedules and hopefully, he will graduate this coming school year. I am very proud of him and I really want to see him with his diploma and would land a teaching job in his place near his parents. I would love to see his parents being very proud of him that even through difficulties he got through and survived.

I hope that even with the littlest things we help him, it would encourage and him him get through the challenges he had to face on the following days.

So there goes our visit to our adopted son of which turned out to be an unexpected date for me and my husband. But I then realized that we spent too much that night and we both panned and agreed that on our next visit, we will be asking him if he was on his boarding house and would just buy bread for snacks and give him money for his school expenses.

Hubby and I did not regret helping him from the start because when he shows us his grades, they all look very promising and I know that he will have bright and secure future ahead of him.

Way to go, Kerl!

Anyway, the sunset that day was too beautiful not to share so I'd include it here.

This will be all for now, see you around
