4 years ago, I discovered a cool tool one day while scrolling somewhere on the Internet. Many other parents would have guessed exactly what I'm posting about just by reading the title of this blog. For those who has no clue, I'll explain shortly.
Portable North Pole is an app which can be downloaded to make personalized video messages from Santa (for kids and grown-ups). It can actually do a lot more things, but the most basic free service is the one that I mentioned here first.
Each year it's different and children become ecstatic when Santa sends them a message from the North Pole...he even knows them by name.
4 years ago, while filling out the basics in order for the video to be created, there was a very lovely little option where you could choose if you wanted your child to be on the Naughty or the Nice list. In the video, Santa called his elves to fetch the book containing all the information that he "gathered" from the specific child throughout the year. The elves would then put this book into the Naughty-Nice machine and the machine would then shine a green light for Nice, or a red light for Naughty, and then Santa would talk nicely and tell the child that there is still a few more days left to make it onto the Nice list...in the event that the light turned red, heaven forbid.
Back then, I had a very busy little 3year old son who unfortunately didn't make it onto the Nice list at first. He wasn't all too happy about getting a red light but worked very hard to receive a green light the following week, which he did (by the way).
The next couple of years, Santa no longer had that feature in his videos which, to my son, was very disappointing. He still remembers the green light and waits patiently for Santa to test his book with his meter. This year we were delighted to see that Santa's meter is working again!!!
Even though Santa's free video isn't as exhilarating as the charged video, I still think it's cool and very enjoyable for children. I know, I know, not everyone likes the idea and some people think it's a waste of time and that it's not good for children to be believe in things that aren't real and bla-bla-bla, but I like it! It also isn't good for children to pick their noses or to eat candy, but we all did it and we're still alive.
A dream come true? Maybe not...but those little faces when they're checking it out...PRICELESS!
If you're a parent and you haven't yet seen the app, check it out now:
